Laptop wireless card hates BitTorrent?

First, I've already tried http://www.utorrent.com/setup_guide.php and http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=196194#p196194.

After a while of using uTorrent (usually a few hours, sometimes a few minutes), I will randomly get disconnected from my wireless network. It "reconnects" after a few minutes, but there are problems. The connection speed stays at 11Mbps (when it should be 54Mbps), and I can't access anything online. The only way to fix it at this point is to disable my wireless card and then re-enable it. Then the cycle repeats itself. A friend of mine who also uses uTorrent has the same problem with her laptop.

Now, the strange thing is I also have a cheap $20 USB wireless adapter. When I use that instead of my internal wireless adapter, nothing goes wrong. Does anybody know the cause of this problem?

Perhaps this helps:

My laptop made/makes the same problems (ACER Aspire 1714 SMi, XP Home SP2, all hotfixes).

At office I use 100MBit LAN, so I disable WLAN there, then enable LAN, it works now.

At home I use 54MBit WLAN, so I disable LAN, enable WLAN afterwards, works
