mauvespoon Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 i read the faq but it didnt helpi downloaded the ipfilter.dat and put in in the folder %AppData%\uTorrent but when i run utorrent it says unable to map port in the logger and nothing else shows up, when i run speed connections it says that the port is open, what should i do? i want to use ipfilter instead of peerguardian cause its simpler and uses less resources, i am connected through ethernet at my university, i am also running symantec firewall and anitvirus but utorrent is enabled in it, windows firewall is disabled... please any help is appreciatedthanks
Ultima Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Does it say ipfilter.dat is loaded? And if UPnP doesn't work, there's likely no way around your school's firewall/router.
mauvespoon Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 no it doesnt say that its loaded, it just says unable to map upnp port, if it cant map the port does that mean i cant use the ipfilter and i have to use peer guardian instead?thanks for the help
Ultima Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Do you have ipfilter.enable set to true in the Advanced settings...? ipfilter.dat has absolutely nothing to do with UPnP. I highly doubt that you can get a green network status light on your campus if you're behind your university firewall.
mauvespoon Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 ipfilter is enable and i have a green light and can download without a problem, its just that when i put ipfilter.dat in the right folder nothing appears to say that its loaded in the log window, i have no idea whats wrong, someone please help
Ultima Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 It doesn't load when you drop the file in. It only loads after ipfilter.enable is enabled, or after you start µTorrent.
