nhbrender Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Hi,I am trying to download a file. Everything was going well and the download was proceeding at a high speed. When it reached 98.4% it hung up and hasn't moved since. It has been 2 days and still no change. Can anyone help?I am using an SMC router and a Linksys Wireless Access Point. The DMZ is disabled on the router. I have tried connecting both wirelessly through the access point as well as directly to the router with an ethernet cable wihtout any result.Any help would be appreciated.NHB
Invy Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Are you getting failed hashes? Check under the Logger tab to see what it says.
Switeck Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 What's the availability on the torrent? How many seeds and peers does the tracker see versis how many you're connected to?Is it a poisoned or fake torrent?
nhbrender Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 The only thing mentioned on the Logger Tab is "Unable to map UPnP Port [20:50:26]"I'm pretty new to uTorrent and Torrents in General so I'm not sure how to check "Availability" on the torrent.Seeds: 0 of 0 connected (0 in swarm)Peers: 14 of 21 connected (0 in swarm)Because I'm new to torrents I'm not sure what most of this means I'm just copying it from the program. Thanks for any help!NOAH
Switeck Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Copying the values it has is good...it means we get to decide rather than us guessing based on your feelings/opinions.Seeds: 0 of 0 connected (0 in swarm)Peers: 14 of 21 connected (0 in swarm)...not good!(0 in swarm) means the tracker has NO peers or seeds, and you're only finding the peers through DHT and Peer Exchange. I'd say this torrent is unlikely to finish, but you might want to let it run in the hopes it does. If you've already shared alot on it, cut upload speed for it to 1 KB/sec and cut upload slots to 1. That upload savings is better spent sharing other torrents LIKELY to complete. No need to get other people's hopes up having them download superfast...then they hit 98.4% and their download speed drops from 100+ KB/sec to 0 KB/sec instantly!
nhbrender Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 So is there any to search for peers that have a complete file? Kinda like how in limewire/kazaa you can right click to search for "more sources"?I'm just wondering if there is any method to complete this file...NOAH
DreadWingKnight Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 No there isn't.BitTorrent isn't the same kind of network as limewire/kazaa/etc
nhbrender Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 So basically this is a wasted file? There is nothing that I can do from my end?Despite being at 98.4% it the picture messes up every couple of minutes I guess because it isn't complete.NOAH
Ultima Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 You can't actively search yourself, but you can wait and hope someone with the missing pieces comes along.
