Port 55657 does not appear to be open.and i have the little red cicle that says not connectableDHT: 279 nodes.if you need any additional information, tell me what you need and ill give it to you.anyhelp will be greatly appreciated. Switeck
Can you remove the router and then configure the modem to run in bridge mode with its internal firewall disabled?(You'll need a software firewall running on your computer to protect it while doing this!) thenowherekid
i conected my laptop directly to the modem, i turned off the firewall and then i forwarded my port it said my port was good. so i went back and pluged in the router, made sure its firewall was off, checked my ports to see if they were forwarded on them, and i gives me the error. but now i have the yellow triangle

Switeck
Have you forwarded both TCP and UDP?UDP is only used for DHT, but TCP is used for everything else in µTorrent.
thenowherekid
yes, both tcp and udp are forwarded. this is the first time it is happened. ive been doing torrents since the beginning of this year. and now my computer that never changes at all doesnt have its port forwarded right. so im on for tryin anything. keep those ideas coming. Ultima
IINM, the F5D7230-4 has been a touchy router in the past... Have you set up a static IP?
thenowherekid
do i need to set my router up as a static IP? maybe ill give that a go
Switeck
Your router should have a dynamic internet ip, however it should have a static/fixed internal LAN ip.It is your computer that ALSO needs to be set to a static/fixed internal LAN ip so the router knows where to port forward to. If your computer ever changes its LAN ip, the router would end up forwarding all the traffic on the port you choose to the wrong place! (...probably to nowhere, losing all the incoming packets on that port!)
thenowherekid
well my laptop and my computer are both set IPs my laptop whats i want them to get to for instance. its ip is 192.168.2.3 so i have forwarded 55657 to both TCP and UDP. Ultima
http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htmWe need you to do that for each computer. And set a static IP for the router as well. Then you could forward from your modem to your router to your computer.
Switeck
thenowherekid said, "its ip is 192.168.2.3 so i have forwarded 55657 to both TCP and UDP."Actually, you got the meaning of something backwards...even though you probably did it correctly. You are forwarding both TCP and UDP incoming (from-the-internet) packets on port 55657 to 192.168.2.3...at least if everything works correctly.A problem may be if your router is not in the 192.168.2.x address block. Being on a different subnet ip may cause routing problems...and even if the port forwarding is otherwise set up correctly, it might still fail because of it. thenowherekid
sorry for sayin it backwards. my router is 192.168.2.1. i hadnt has this problem before. i hadnt used torrents in a while then i got back on it and nope.
Ultima
That's because your router's IP probably changed on the modem's subnet. Which is why you have to set a static IP for the router. There's a difference between the router's IP on its own subnet, and the router's IP on the modem's subnet.
thenowherekid
yeah modem is 192.168.1.1 and router 192.168.2.1. ive tried makin them on the same subnet, but i cant seem to do it right. any suggestions or know a place that i can read how to do it? Ultima
Just try configuring your router to have a set static IP address, and you should be fine. Then you can forward your ports from the modem to the static IP you set for the router. There is no guide that I know of for this kind of thing. thenowherekid
when i set the router in the same subnet as my modem, i cant access the internt at all, the only thing i could access is the router itself. dag gum, didnt think it would be this freakin hard to get it workin right
Ultima
Er, I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve, but I don't think you can (or should be attempting to) merge anything into one subnet. The modem's subnet is separate, but contains the modem itself, and the router. The router's subnet is separate, but contains all your computers and itself. What you need to do is set the router's IP to be static on the modem's subnet, which should be doable via the router's configuration interface -- you should be able to set the static IP address. thenowherekid
i had it to where modems ip is 192.168.1.1 and my routers ip was 192.168.1.250. like i said the only i could access was the router. crazy huh. ill give it another go real quick
thenowherekid
I got it. for right now i do anyway. my router was connecting to my modem dynamically itself. i went to the modem and logged in and then i dissconnected it. i went into the router, and changed the connection type to the PPP. and then after that i went and changed the IP to 192.168.1.250. so i went and made sure my port was forwarded, and bingo it was. i guess now i go see if everything else is good. i got the green circle so im sure i cant be too far from complete victory. thats everyone especially you Ultima for all the help.
