Dead-Jester
I have my seeding ratio set to 150% (in the queueing window) and have my upload limited to 0 (to stop) once the seeding goal has been reached. I have a couple of torrents that I am seeding that are at over 1.50 and I am still uploading. Why is this? I don't want to remove these torrents from my list while people are still downloading them, but if the auto-stop doesn't work, I may have to do that. Ultima
Did you force the torrent? Did you set a time limit for the seeding?
Dead-Jester
Yes, I forced the torrent, but I forced it to download. And no I didn't set a time limit, I have the drop down menu set to Ignore. But I didn't think that the time to seed was related to the % seeded. Ultima
Don't force the torrent then. Forcing it forces it to override all queue settings, ratio stop included.
Dead-Jester
So you're saying that forcing the torrent overrides the seeding goal... ok thanks. If I do stop it while people are downloading from me, will it mess up their download? I heard from someone that it will.
Ultima
No, you can't ever destroy other people's data just by leaving. If you are the only seed, though, then you're killing the torrent by leaving.
Dead-Jester
Ok, someone told me once that if someone was downloading a piece from me, they had to finnish that piece from me or else it won't finnish.
Nefarious
a piece is divided in blocks, when u are downloading a piece u are actually downloading different blocks from different users, so if one leaves u can download the block from another people later anyway
Ultima
Yah, but in the case of µTorrent, if the piece is incomplete when you exit µTorrent, µTorrent will trash the piece -- and rightfully so, it's incomplete, so it should be considered trash since it fails the hash check.@Dead-Jester: That still doesn't mean you damage the receiver's data. It just means the receiver receives no more data from you. Like Nefarious said, you can still receive the rest of the piece from other peers. Also, as I said, if you're the last seeder in the swarm, don't leave, out of courtesy for the other people.
