kalionan
I have spent HOURS trying to figure out this process. My 2 wire 2700HG-E isn't showing up as a common listed port and I have no idea how to find the info needed to complete this process....can anyone help? Thanks in advance..... Ultima
Seeing as how the port forwarding guides for 2wire 2700HG-B and 2wire 2700HG-D are rather similar, why not try following one of them to see if they match your 2wire 2700HG-E...? kalionan
I did go through the 2700HG-D port forwarding guides and you are right...they are similar and I was able to get them set up but when I test to see if my port is forwarded properly...it claims that there is an error with my port. I have tried several random ports......I am so confused....I don't know what to do next.
Ultima
You added the specified rule to your computer's application list in the router?
kalionan
I added a new User defined application to my router.....not sure if that is the same thing.
Ultima
Um, yeah... but then you're supposed to select your computer from the dropdown list (see this image), click "Allow individual applications," select the new rule you created from the list on the left, click Add, then save... kalionan
I did all that...I selected my computer, created the New User Defined Application with the port number I found in the utorrent preferences drop down menu, I then allowed this application, added it, and then saved it. kalionan
getting rid of Norton?.....what should I use as a firewall? I did try disabling Norton and the port test still failed.
Ultima
Disabling does not get rid of system-wide hooks. Your router comes with a firewall already anyway... but whatever, you can use Windows Firewall for the time being -- just make sure you set µTorrent to add an exception to Windows Firewall. kalionan
How do I set utorrent to add an exceptio to windows firewall?

kalionan
K...I have uninstalled Norton....the exception for utorrent was already set as it turns out.....and I am still getting an error when I test the port.
Ultima
... I assume you restarted your computer already... now, are you using any other security software on the computer?
kalionan
Yup.......restarted the computer.....as far as I can tell the only security software is Windows and the router.

Switeck
Give HijackThis a try along with SpyBot Seek and Destroy -- they are specially designed to find+remove unwanted programs/DLLs that load on windows boot-up.
kalionan
Ultima....any other ideas?
Ultima
I'm pretty low on ideas at the moment... Try as Switeck suggested and post the HijackThis log.
kalionan
I did a Spybot S&D but The HijackThis log........I am not sure I am savy enough to run this......It looks pretty technical.
Switeck
Exactly, it is VERY technical! That's where exacting google searches on what it finds are so helpful...they're likely to tell you what you don't know about what's loading up on your computer when it boots. Ultima
You should be provided with a log after you run it... post that here.
