rachel26
Hi:I have been trying to figure this out for the past 2 days. I have set up a static Ip address I have forwarded and triggered the port issued by UtorrentI am using Linkseys WRT54G v5.I have followed every bit of instruction issued on past forums. The wireless router is being used by 2 other computers. I also looked on a past forum where the problem was that the post was not being forwarded correctly to the modem then inturn to the router. Can someone please help. My speed is going currently at 26.0kb/sec and the upload speed is 64.2kb/sec. The average speed it should be going at after running a speed test is downloading:193kb/sec and uploading: 81.1kb/sec. Why is it that my ports are still closed and not open?? I have never gotten the green light only the red caution sign. Someone PLEASE HELP!!ip address: 192.168.1.101subnet mask: 255.255.255.0default gateway: 192.168.1.1DNS: 192.168.2.1rachel26
thun712
You seem to be having a problem similar to what I have with my WRT54G v6, if you'd like you can read the thread and my exchange with Ultima. It may prove useful. What we found to be a possible problem is a stubborn SURFboard modem, what modem do you use?
rachel26
HiThanks for the fast reply...I'm not sure of what exactly i'm naming but I think my modem is Siemens Ethernet/ USB ADSL Modem
thun712
If you have any firewalls or security software make sure that uTorrent has an exception or signals will get dropped.then try:-Resetting the router to factory settings and setting the port again, if not continue-Upgrade the firmware of the router and re-forward (link), if no change keep goinghttp://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109974&packedargs=sku%3D1127782957298&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper-Enable DMZ, if no progress keep going (remember to disable DMZ after this)-Disable your firewalls completely, continue (remeber to re-enable them)-Try it on your other 2 computers. At this point if it works, then the problem is your settings on your original computer. If it doesn't work then continue.-Connect your modem/DSL adapter directly to your computer (skip the router)-Finally, connect the modem directly to your other 2 machines. If it doesn't work then I have no idea what may be causing the problem so hope some else does.BUT: if something works, let me know because it may also work for me. Ultima
The SpeedStream 4200 *could* possibly include routing functions... try connecting your computer directly to the modem... then go to Start > Run > cmd /k ipconfigFor the gateway IP address... say it's xxx.xxx.yyy.yyy, what is xxx.xxx? rachel26
Well I followed your instructions and the new gateway is 192.168.2.1....Also the modem is acting as a router too..it's called Speedstreem Router on my computer..The speed of downloading has slowed down to about 37kb/s downloading and 62 kb/s for uploading. Would I have to forward the port to the modem also?? I already did that for the wireless Linkseys Router....and if I have to forward my modem how is that done??? rachel26
Also I am still getting an error message of Error: port is not open.
rachel26
Well I connected back the router and found that the ip address changed to 192.168.1.100??? So i'm going to go back into the router and change all the forwarding information and see if it will work....
Ultima
Set a static IP address for your router. Forward the ports from your modem to your router's static IP address. Then forward your ports from your router to your computer.
