Hi:

I have been trying to figure this out for the past 2 days.

I have set up a static Ip address I have forwarded and triggered the port issued by Utorrent

I am using Linkseys WRT54G v5.

I have followed every bit of instruction issued on past forums. The wireless router is being used by 2 other computers. I also looked on a past forum where the problem was that the post was not being forwarded correctly to the modem then inturn to the router. Can someone please help. My speed is going currently at 26.0kb/sec and the upload speed is 64.2kb/sec. The average speed it should be going at after running a speed test is downloading:193kb/sec and uploading: 81.1kb/sec.

Why is it that my ports are still closed and not open??

I have never gotten the green light only the red caution sign.

Someone PLEASE HELP!!

ip address: 192.168.1.101

subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

default gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 192.168.2.1

You seem to be having a problem similar to what I have with my WRT54G v6, if you'd like you can read the thread and my exchange with Ultima. It may prove useful. What we found to be a possible problem is a stubborn SURFboard modem, what modem do you use?

If you have any firewalls or security software make sure that uTorrent has an exception or signals will get dropped.

then try:

-Resetting the router to factory settings and setting the port again, if not continue

-Upgrade the firmware of the router and re-forward (link), if no change keep going

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109974&packedargs=sku%3D1127782957298&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper

-Enable DMZ, if no progress keep going (remember to disable DMZ after this)

-Disable your firewalls completely, continue (remeber to re-enable them)

-Try it on your other 2 computers. At this point if it works, then the problem is your settings on your original computer. If it doesn't work then continue.

-Connect your modem/DSL adapter directly to your computer (skip the router)

-Finally, connect the modem directly to your other 2 machines. If it doesn't work then I have no idea what may be causing the problem so hope some else does.

BUT: if something works, let me know because it may also work for me.

Hi:

Well I had McAfee AVS and I uninstalled it. Now I am getting the yellow caution symbol in UTorrent...but i'ved tried everything else. Nothing seems to work. It is still saying the port is not open and I could have something wrong with my network configurations...

I've tried everything...

Well I followed your instructions and the new gateway is 192.168.2.1....

Also the modem is acting as a router too..it's called Speedstreem Router on my computer..

The speed of downloading has slowed down to about 37kb/s downloading and 62 kb/s for uploading.

Would I have to forward the port to the modem also?? I already did that for the wireless Linkseys Router....and if I have to forward my modem how is that done???

  • 8 months later...

wow, i had a similar problem, and it took a while

big help from http://forum.utorrent.com/post.php?tid=15287

long story short, u have two dhcp's not communicating very well. You have to forward from the modem to the router, router to u. Forward ports in ur modem as shown http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Siemens/4200/4200index.htm

BE SURE to forward to 192.168.254.1, its cooky, but thats what the modem sees a router as. after that forward on ur router as normal :) i had instant green check mark! hope it helps.
