Can I restrict TCP connections...

Half-open connections max is an advanced setting in µTorrent. It defaults to 8, but I set mine to 4 without problems.

Run µTorrent's Speed Guide (CTRL+G) and set it UNDER your max UPLOAD speed.

Then go into µTorrent's settings, disable DHT and lower global connections to 60 or less and connections per torrent to 40 or less (unless you run only 1 torrent at a time).

Cheers pal...

I've done as you said, and can get downloads going at a great speed (the ports are open), but after a very short period of time the speed just drops to zero and (sometimes) the program freezes. I can unfreeze everything by unplugging my network and plugging it back in, or by closing all the TCP connections utorrent has open forcibly with sysinternals TCPview. Eitherway, when everything freezes I lose my web connection etc.

Any ideas?

Just to clarify that - everything stops - then if I close down all the TCP/UDP connections with the Utorrent logo next to them in TCPview, everything comes back to life.

In doing so, the availability goes back to zero, then the goes back up again, the speed goes up, then goes back to zero, then I have to clear and start again...

Try disabling DHT and UPnP and resolve ips/resolve country flags in µTorrent.

You'll definitely want Peer Exchange enabled ...and possibly Protocol Encryption enabled as well.

You'll also have to do manual port forwarding if you have a router, but it's best that way anyway.

99% sure it's not software. I can run utorrent with nothing else and still get it. I'm guessing it's gotta be my Belkin Router - hence my intial can I restrict TCP through the router question...

Thanks everso for all your help.. : )

Anyone else have any ideas?
