clifton1976 Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 I need some help with port forwarding. I have looked at quite a few posts and read about port forwarding but i'm still having problems. I have no problem in setting up Limewire and Ares to work properly. Any help would be appreciated. I have to be careful about letting my boss find out what I'm doing.
Ultima Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Are the ports forwarded properly for Ares and Limewire? Or are they "just working"...?
clifton1976 Posted October 12, 2006 Author Report Posted October 12, 2006 I'm not too sure...Limewire is working and the speeds are pretty good. How can I check?
Switeck Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Limewire can use UDP packets to hole-punch unforwarded routers. It was the first p2p program I know of to do that. However, if you think D-Link routers have problems now with DHT...this would be 10x worse!
silverfire Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Talk to your boss and have him open ports on the router I did it, so you should be able to do so too! I even told my boss I wanted open ports to run filesharing programs "such as BitTorrent, Share, and WinNY"
