TiTaNsFaN690 Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Using different torrent systems over the past year (including Azureus, Bitcomet, and uTorrent now) I have always had 2 distinct problems while downloading. When leaving a torrent on overnight one of two things will happen more often that not:1. I will wake up to find that the torrent is stopped becuase my dsl connection has been dropped.2. I will wake up to find that my computer has restarted and that "windows has recovered from a serious error (a stop error).I have DSL broadband as previously stated and use good settings as suggested by the website. If anyone has any suggestions i'll be very greatful, thanks in advance.
Ultima Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 "The website"...? What website? And don't allow the computer to autorestart, we need to know what the BSOD writes. My guess is that you've got some crappy network hardware. Or just busted drivers in general.
TiTaNsFaN690 Posted October 14, 2006 Author Report Posted October 14, 2006 The website being what the utorrent good settings suggests and the azureus suggestions. I'll disable autorestart and see what the BSOD says tonite assuming it shows up. As for my network hardware i have At&t Yahoo DSL with a 2Wire router... not crappy from my understanding and is very common in Texas. Not sure what you mean by busted drivers but my computer is good in general specs being 3.2 ghz intel proicessor, ATIx850 pro pci-express video card, 1 gig of ram... Dont know what any of that has to do with my issue though.
Ultima Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 http://www.utorrent.com/setup_guide.phpSpecs mean nothing, and I never said anythng about specs. Conflicting drivers can cause issues. Make sure you aren't using incompatible software. And as I said earlier, we still need to see what the BSOD writes, regardless of whether you think it has anything to do with... anything. You need to disable autoretarting by pressing Windows+Pause/Break > Advanced > Startup and Recovery Settings > uncheck Automatically restart.
Switeck Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Can you give us a web LINK to this website?I have a feeling it's another (or the same) clueless settings guide that really will cause more people problems than it helps. Also, what's your line's rated speed? What settings are you using in µTorrent, as shown by Speed Guide (CTRL+G)?Lastly, what advanced settings did you change?
TiTaNsFaN690 Posted October 15, 2006 Author Report Posted October 15, 2006 Sorry for the delay but the one night i needed utorrent to mess up it seems to be working fine... Will post BSOD when it comes up. As for my settings they are based on utorrents speed test... what i meant by good settings were the ones on the azureus torrent site which are almost identical to utorrents automated settings when you fill in your speed: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Good_settingsMy max Download speed is unlimited my max upload is 23 based on the utorrent settings. My latest speed test from dslreports.com is 1332 down/ 373 up, so its probably on average lower that that. As for incompatible software according to the list I do have Norton Internet Security 2007, however my cpu use isn't "very high" as the help page suggests unless it also affects my restarting? -Thx for the help.
