CyRus2273
Hi, I recently had to reinstall my computer because of a crash. Before then I´d been using utorrent alot and had a natural loft at about 210 kb/s Down. Which I was very happy with. Now the problem:After the reinstallation my utorrent has had a consistent loft at lousy 30 kb/s Down. Normally I would ofcourse think the problem had something to do with my IP not beeing static and a port not beeing forwarding correctly, but since it all functioned perfectly before the reinstallation I doubt that this has anything to do with it.Any form of help is appreciatedThxCyRus2273
Switeck
Is µTorrent still unfirewalled? (green light at bottom)Have you run Speed Guide (CTRL+G) speed tests on both up and down on your connection to see if you're getting what you're paying for?Have you exceeded monthly bandwidth limits (if any)? What settings are you currently using?Have you changed any advanced settings? CyRus2273
utorrent is unfirewalled and I have run the speed test and everything should function perfectlyMy settings is 59046 and upnp mapping is enabled. But really every setting is just like it was before the crashdown, and for some reason the speed has decreased enormously
Switeck
Try using manual port forwarding instead of UPnP.How stable is your upload speed going in µTorrent's speed graphs? Is it reaching and sustaining the max you're allowing it to go?What's your average upload speed PER upload slot? (there's more upload slots if you have multiple torrents going at once.)
CyRus2273
I am not talking about my upload speed, Im talking about my download speed, and the fact of the matter is that before the crash it had a natural max of 210 kb/s and now its only 30 kb/s
TheBear
Have you limited your max upload speed in µTorrent to about 80% of your actual upload speed? If that's too high, it will affect your download speed.
CyRus2273
Yes I have limited my upload speed but once again I must say that this has never accured to me before and I have always limited upload speed. So I would really love some advice from people who think they know what can have gotten changed when I reinstalled my XP, please notice that all my files are intact and the settings should be too, but it cant be because of my utorrent not using its maximum capacity. So please, what could have gotten changed when I reinstalled my windows XP, perhaps something in the registry... I do not knowCyRus2273
TheBear
Are you one of those people that needed to patch TCPIP.SYS to get good speeds. If you re-installed XP, you'll need to re-apply the patch.
CyRus2273
No I am not, no patch has been necesary before, so dont see why it should be know; But I really can not figure this out, some setting has been changed and I have no clue what it is. Ultima
I'm assuming it doesn't say "Download Limited" in the status bar... anyway, for now, check out the second link in my signature. If it comes down to it, and you get to the TCPIP.sys patch part of the checklist (and no tips before it helped), do try patching anyway even though you've never had to before. CyRus2273
Actually YES, it does say download limited, I had not seen that..What can I do about it?
Ultima
That means you didn't run the Speed Guide properly. I assumed the better, but it seems you were leeching...

Ultima
Eh? What else is there to say? The FAQ clearly explains why you get Download Limited...
TheBear
What does Download Limited in the status bar mean? This is an anti-leech protection put in µTorrent. It means your upload cap is set too low, and as such, your download is limited to 6 times that amount (3 in 1.4 build 402, 6 in 1.4.1 build 405+). It's set to 6 times the cap so that legitimate users who need that cap (dial-up, ISDN, certain slow broadband connections) are unaffected by it. It only applies to upload caps of 1-5 KiB/s.It means that you have set an upload speed so low that you are the cause of the slow downloads. Switeck
CyRus2273, I was asking about upload speed because if upload speed is not stable it's often due to bigger/more complex problems with your internet connection. However and fortunately the problem has been revealed -- you simply have the upload speed set too low.
