taezow Posted October 22, 2006 Author Report Posted October 22, 2006 sierriawifi.comI suspect that they buy into some other server, for they service a small town of only 5000 people. Perhaps they are part of sofast.net , that is who I call for problems. They booted me once because I was connected too long even though I have an unlimited account.I have been through the help files many times. I keep thinking that I have missed something but I'm pretty sure that I have done everything correctly.
Ultima Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Wi-Fi = permanent NAT. You can't get out of your firewalled state, so yeah, it is the ISP in your case.
silverfire Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 @Ultima: Not necessarily. The wireless internet on campus gives me an external IP, so I'm assuming that all the wireless access points are deferring DHCP to servers further "upstream." Point being, it probably is the ISP NAT'ing him, but Wi-Fi isn't automatically a NAT.
Ultima Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Point taken. The only reason I said it that way was because he was having the issue in the first place
