Murt
Hello, ive been through the FAQ and 8 pages of the trouble shooting forum but i cant find a solution, or even anyone with a similar problem.windows xp, xone alarm, no router or anything, just plain old cable, no anti virus programs.Ive been using utorrent for a month or so now and its worked excellent. We got a touch of a virus yesterday and the missus ran "spybot search and destroy" and "hijack this". She then took away everything that popped up hijack this. The virus disappeared but when i went to open utorrent i got an error and have been ever since despite restarts, deletions, reinstallations.Anyone got any bright ideas as im pretty desperate???? Murt
oh sorry, silly me its in swedish so i cant post the exact text, but its the standard one"u.torrent.exe has come across a problem and must finish"then you get the whole "describe the problem for miscrosoft message"dont know how i can be more specific, i comes straight away, utorrent doesnt appear at all
Firon
Your Windows install might be damaged.
Murt
How would i be able to tell ifwindows install was damaged? The computer is working fine otherwise, speed, internet, everything.
Firon
Weird inexplicable problems like this. I'd suggest clearing everything in %AppData%\uTorrent, deleting utorrent.exe, and downloading it again. And check your system with another AV to make sure it actually is clean. Switeck
So is your computer (going insane) from the sound of it.When was the last time you did a complete reinstall of Windows? If it's been more than a year OR you've had viruses on it, then you probably should back up stuff and reinstall. Murt
i formatted the whole thing about a month ago and its working perfectly otherwise, i am able to install and use everything else no problems, i updated to mozilla 2.0 the other day for example.Im amazed that no one can solve this, i tought it was just me being dopey. Switeck
Some of us could probably solve that if we could sit down and root through the computer to see exacting details, but based on what you tell us...however exacting...we are still flying nearly blind.Lots of things are only checked and discovered on a computer through trial and error. ...or very thorough searches. Murt
Dxc.exewas something bad but it's been removed and is causing no problems. What 's this iirc your on about?
Switeck
Remove ALL entries of utorrent in Zone Alarm. Then try again from the start....you may have to remove Zone Alarm completely to resolve the problems if that doesn't help.
