Leah
Okay, have mercy on a complete idiot. I just downloaded utorrent, but when I try to use it, a window pops up that says it cannot connect to the internet, which is bull because I have another window open that's connected to the internet.Just browsing this forum has alerted me to how ignorant I am about computers. Leah
Sorry the paint thing didn't work. The window says "Could not connect to network, check your internet connection." And no matter what you do the window does not go away when you try to close it.
Switeck
What firewall software and antivirus and antispyware software are you using -- likely one of them is denying µTorrent internet (and maybe even LAN) access!
Leah
I have Norton as well as Windows Security Alerts. If it means anything, I tried a few other file sharing programs and none of them could perform their search functions either. The problem is, if I disable my security features, what do I replace them with? I already tried removing utorrent from the Norton program controls. No effect. Ultima
Erm, µTorrent gives that kind of error...? I've never seen that... Sounds more like a browser error to me. Can you post a screenshot of the error?
Leah
I've tried following the directions above but cannot import the error into this format. Sorry about that. The message actually comes from the software I'm using to search for files to download, which in this case is eXeem Lite. When I enter ANYTHING into the search fields, this message pops up and does not go away when you click OK, not until you turn off the computer. Leah
By the way, I've tried Limewire, 360SharePro, Pirate Bay, and Bittorrent, and none of these will search correctly. They all yield no results, regardless of what you enter.
Ultima
The problem lies outside of µTorrent. Which means you should fix that too. At this point, we don't even know what the problem is. Attempting to uninstall Norton might be a good start. We still need more information, though. Like ISP. Or router/modem.
Switeck
It seems obvious:Most likely, either eXeem Lite or Norton is preventing µTorrent and other p2p programs from working correctly.Either that or your system is misconfigured in some other way....Need more info.(router? wireless? usb? ISP? virus/spyware found?)
