kaybing27
Hey there,I'm using the latest version of uTorrent (1.6), on Windows XP, with a DL speed of 'up to 8mb' but i get 290kbs down on speed tests. My UL speed is about 384kbs. I've configured with the speed guide, enabled protocol encryption, aswell as tweaking the half tcp and the patch. My ISP is Plusnet (UK).When running a well seeded torrent, like open office im getting 43(92) on seeds and 1(1) on peers, so afaik I should be getting very good speeds, but i get only upto about 20kBs. I see I get lots of connections to seeders, but most are giving me under 1.0kBs speeds... so i'm getting lots of speeds ~0.5kBs which doesn't add up to very much.Is this a problem on my side or theirs? Remember i have configured to the xxx/384kBs speed guide. Thanks
Ultima
What about your port? Is it forwarded properly?

Switeck
http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPsI read somewhere else that Plusnet only allows 20 KB/sec for p2p traffic, and that may count UPLOAD as well!http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=183257&threshold=1&commentsort=0&mode=thread&pid=15138130#15138460"plusnet consumer DSL contract it gets traffic shaped at peak (evening) periods"...and the reply posts to it sum it up.http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Plusnet+UK+bittorrent+problem+OR+throttle&btnG=Google+Search
kaybing27
Hmmm.... My upload is fine, maxed out usually.Just I seem to get lots of this 0.1/0.4/0.7kBs people, then a few bigger ones (5.0, etc), once i even got one guy sending me 200kBs. So I don't think I'm being throttled, and even if I am, PE should sort that out..... right?....Thanks
Switeck
Was the 200 KB/sec one a UK one by any chance?PlusNet is most likely throttling, whether it's based on time-of-day, monthly quota limit, high traffic volume, etc I don't know. Those low speeds, ESPECIALLY on Open Office torrent, isn't right. kaybing27
Aha, the speeds are fine at night, etc, I'll just download stuff at night then, till i change ISP.Another weird thing is, i changed my port to the typical VOIP one, opened it in my router, and utorrent said it was fine (green tick, port check was OK), left it overnight. In the morning it was red and the port check failed, it is definitely opened in my router, but was blocked overnight :S , I've had to change back to my old, high numbered port. Odd.Thanks
