poenn
I've been told by the person that manages my internet that my bittorrent downloading has been generating too many connections (as many as 7000 over one night) and it is clogging up and slowing down the server... has anyone else had any problems like this?uTorrent 1.6, windows xp pro, approx. 8 mbit connection (down), 1.8GHz, 1 gig ram200 max global connections, 90 peers per torrent, 5 active downloads, 11 queuedthanks! Ultima
Try lowering the global maximum number of connections to 100, the number of simultaneously started torrents to maybe 3, and the number of peers per torrent to 50.
poenn
ok, i've lowered the max conns, i also disable dht and peer exchange, because i heard those generate a lot of connections, is this true? thanks!
Ultima
Yah, forgot about DHT too... leaving peer exchange alone should be fine though.
Switeck
Leave Peer Exchange enabled -- it doesn't make more connections, it trades around between already-connected ips lists of other ips that are working. What's your half-open max limit set to?
