GoBlue Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 I've tried everything recommended here and still no luck. It's not a Utorrent problem as I've tried other applications with the same results. The only way to unfreeze my internet connection is to reboot my computer.
Switeck Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Tell us a little more, or we can only agree that you're hosed. What ISP, what modem+router, what firewall software (if any), what security suites/antivirus/antispyware, what settings are you trying, what speed is your connection, even whether you've got a Nforce motherboard?
GoBlue Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 It's the Comcast 8mbps package. I'm using a SB5120 modem. I currently have the router disconnected to see if that was the cause (it's a D-Link DGL-4100). I'm using the Windows XP firewall and Avast Antivirus (with p2p shield disabled). I've tried disabling both the firewall and antivirus with no success. It's an nForce 4 motherboard but I've never heard of a motherboard causing the problems. I've lowered my setting to well below the recommended settings for my connection. I've patched TCPIP and I've tried EVERYTHING else out there.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 It's an nForce 4 motherboard but I've never heard of a motherboard causing the problems.nVidia's firewall is broken.
Switeck Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Assuming the Nvidia firewall was the problem, on to the next step...what µTorrent settings were you using?...Ones from Speed Guide (CTRL+G) or gotten from a website?
GoBlue Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 I'm not familiar with any firewall on my system other than the one in Windows XP. Are there settings that I can access for my motherboard firewall?Right now my settings are:Global max upload rate 10Global max download rate 300Global max # of connections 50Number of connected peers per torrent 50Number of upload slots per torrent 4
Switeck Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 If you're only running 1 torrent at a time, those settings are ok. Considering what you have, you could have upload speed set much higher if that's all your doing.
GoBlue Posted November 14, 2006 Author Report Posted November 14, 2006 I've reduced my upload speed to see if that was causing my connection to freeze. The wierd thing is that when my connection freezes I have to reboot the computer to get it working again. Just rebooting the modem does nothing.
