PhilA Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 After I got the latest version and run it, I see that all the previous settings were still intact, so I'm wondering where these settings are stored?
Switeck Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 On my computer, the settings files are stored in:C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\uTorrent\...but I'm on a Win 98SE box. For an Win XP box, they might be in a similarly-named folder off documents and settings or current user folder.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 start - run - %appdata%\utorrent
Ultima Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#Where_are_the_settings_and_.torrent_files_stored.3FIt's answered in the FAQ anyway ;o If you haven't already done so, you should probably read the FAQ. You might learn about stuff in µTorrent you didn't know about before, but were wondering/unsure about (I know I did the last time I combed through it to update my manual).
PhilA Posted November 22, 2006 Author Report Posted November 22, 2006 Thanks for all your help. I've read the FAQ when I first found the site, but it was so large I must admit to skimming through much of it, especially the parts related to things I don't understand, (and which didn't explain them). But I'm definitely going to reread it.I found through the run command the settings stored in the same directory as my torrents, which on XP is by default- Documents and settings\<user name>\My Documents
Switeck Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 "start - run - %appdata%\utorrent" does not seem to work for my Win 98SE box. The same may be true for all Win 9x/ME boxes...possibly even Wine versions as well under Linux.
PhilA Posted November 22, 2006 Author Report Posted November 22, 2006 I should say, IE saved the torrents there by default, and utorrent also used that directory. Switeck, your OS apparently doesn't recognize that command. I don't know what it would be.
Switeck Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 I use "save as" for torrent links, so I skip right by that too. IE won't be saving my .torrent files anywhere by default except where I tell it to.I've seen too many viruses and trojans come in via web links that weren't what they were supposed to be, that's why I use "save as".
