skaboss610 Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 I get really inconsistent speeds even when i have 20+ seeds. Sometimes it runs at 700kb/s and up and sometimes i cant break 60kb/s. Does anyone have any idea whats going on.I have no av or firewall. comcast cable at 8mb/s. a linksys wrt54g v4.0 upgraded to the Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c with all the ports forworded. Thanks in advance.
Ultima Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Then it's probably just BitTorrent...http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/index.htmlHow does this torrent run?
Switeck Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Is your upload speeds inconsistant too? What is your upload bandwidth rated for? Please also post the settings you're using, as shown by Speed Guide (CTRL+G) as well as any advanced settings that you've changed....we may be able to find what settings are likely causing the intermittent behavior, or just have to agree that it's all due to the chancy nature of BitTorrent.
skaboss610 Posted November 23, 2006 Author Report Posted November 23, 2006 my connection is rated at 368kb/s upstream as told by dslreports.com speed test. I have tried this with the upload limit higher and it slows the connection down even more. right now it is set to 15kb/s up. the upload speeds with stay consistent when it is set to 15kb/s when i set it higher they will hover somewhere around 40-50kb/s.open office hit around 1500kb/s. that being said what is a good bittorrent site to go to becuase the ones i am on arent giving me much at all even when it has even more seeds than the open office distro.
Switeck Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Run Speed Guide (CTRL+G) again and choose the xx/384k or xx/256k setting. Those are the closest to your real upload's max speed.
