Switeck
What's so secret that we have to email you?Just run Speed Guide (CTRL+G) and choose the setting that most closely matches your UPLOAD bandwidth max.If that doesn't help, we'll need to know your ISP and official rated speed maxes. And also what router, software firewall, antivirus/antispyware software you're using. brockrolph
Its just easier for me if you e-mail me.Currently I have a Linksys router + reciver. No firewall. And sadly no virus/spyware protection , my subscription expired a couple of days ago. Thanks[MERGE]I did a speed test and i got this: 350 / 214 (Kbps)(42.7 / 26.1 KB/sec)
Ultima
xx/192k in the Speed Guide. Read the setup guide.
Switeck
If you have no spyware/virus protection, get SpyBot Seek and Destroy, Process Viewer, and HijackThis -- all free for home use, though they encourage donations.
analyst1
Hi all i am new to this ...i wanted to know the best settings for my situation..Using Utorrent 1.6I ran the speed test at speakeasy.....D/L - 6726 kbps......U/L - 430, I am not connected to a router or dsl, I am using a WiFi access to my local free site near me......I dont have a firewall installed....I have Norton 2000 a/v software.....what would be my best set up for my case...I am running winxp home sp1......since I am using a wifi access what would be the port I would use........thanks alot
Switeck
Your U/L is 430 kbps, so in Speed Guide the closest match is xx/384k.
analyst1
So xx/384 would be my d/l speed?....what about u/l speed ?....and what port do I use in my case since that I get access to internet by WiFi signal?.....Thanks
Ultima
The Speed Guide clearly says that you're selecting your UPLOAD speed in that dropdown list. Good luck with WiFi access -- you likely can't forward your ports.
analyst1
sorry my mistake...yes it does say upload speed..............So no one is using a wifi connection?....so in my case what settings would I use for optimium results...what port number would be best to use?........Thanks again
analyst1
also what do I set my d/l speed at?..do I just use 0 for max?...also one other thing what do I use for other settings...any info would be greatly appreciated......
Switeck
A wifi connection does not handle lots of connections nearly as well as a wired broadband link.So you have to reduce global connections and connections per torrent WELL below the recommended Speed Guide settings for your upload. Even more than 60 global connections is probably too many, you may need to set it as low as 20.Also high half-open rates are VERY bad for wifi. Definitely go with the default of 8 and you may need to reduce it to 4 or even as low as 2!
analyst1
Thanks..so I use xx/384k as U/L............but again what about D/L....what would I set the speed at ....and also what port should I use..........
Switeck
Any port above 10000 should be ok. You normally shouldn't need a download speed max, but if you want to put one make it 90-99% your connection's rated max download speed.
