Zorque Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Lately, if I leave uTorrent on for more than an hour or two, the computer becomes completely nonresponsive and I have to manually restart it. It's only been happening for the past two weeks, but it's been much longer than that since I've installed anything or changed any major settings.I checked the list of incompatible software, and I don't have anything from that list installed. I've also tried using the computer while downloading, to see if the computer idling was the problem, but it locks up then too. As a last resort, I deleted my settings.dat, dht.dat, and resume.dat files and all their backups. This didn't work either, and neither did deleting/redownloading utorrent.exe.Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it?
Ultima Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 When was the last time you performed a Windows Update? When was the last time you ever patched TCPIP.sys, if ever? An even better question that you should answer is: what operating system are you using?
Zorque Posted December 3, 2006 Author Report Posted December 3, 2006 Sorry for the lack of details. I'm running Windows XP Pro, fully updated. I patched TCPIP.sys some time ago, though I tried it again just now and I'll see if that fixes the problem.
Ultima Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Be sure you restart your computer after applying the TCPIP.sys patch.
