Gogogo111 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Ok, I have read the sticky on the top which linked me to the guide about upgrading your firmware. It says "The following note does NOT apply to WRT54G/GS v5s! Use the latest official firmware (1.00.9+) with those, they do not suffer from this problem."Ok, so I went to 192.168.1.1 and it says Firmware Version: v3.03.6, but I still have that problem. I only download at like 20kb/s-40kb/s when I usually download around 200kb/s.So this may sound stupid but why am I having problems? Do I need to update my firmware? Thanks!
Ultima Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Exactly which version of the WRT54G are you using?
Gogogo111 Posted December 6, 2006 Author Report Posted December 6, 2006 I don't know, how can I find out? Sorry for being such a newb.
Ultima Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Eh I dunno, actually, but I kinda assumed it would be rather explicit, considering how a bunch of people manage to find out whether they're using V1-V4 of WRT54G, or V5 or above =TTry looking around on the box or something... or around the router configuration pages.
bassiouni Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 How to know your WRT54G/GS Router Version by Serial number.Known serial numbers (first few characters) vs versions:CDF0 = WRT54G v1.0CDF1 = WRT54G v1.0CDF2 = WRT54G v1.1CDF3 = WRT54G v1.1CDF5 = WRT54G v2.0CDF7 = WRT54G v2.2CDF8 = WRT54G v3.0CDF9 = WRT54G v3.1CDFA = WRT54G v4.0CDFB = WRT54G v5.0 (VxWorks)CGN0 = WRT54GS v1.0CGN1 = WRT54GS v1.0CGN2 = WRT54GS v1.1CGN3 = WRT54GS v2.0CGN4 = WRT54GS v2.1CGN5 = WRT54GS v3.0CGN6 = WRT54GS v4.0CGN7 = WRT54GS v5.0 (VxWorks)CL7A = WRT54GL v1.0CL7B = WRT54GL v1.1CL7C = WRT54GL v1.1
Gogogo111 Posted December 7, 2006 Author Report Posted December 7, 2006 Ok, I have CDF8, which is WRT54G V3.0.
Ultima Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Then as the sticky clearly implies, the FAQ entry applies to your router...http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/index.htmlHow does a torrent from here run?
Gogogo111 Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 Sorry for not replying. I had to go somewhere for a few days. But which one should I download?
Gogogo111 Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 Ok, I tried OpenOffice.org 2.0.4WindowsEnglish (en)It cant find any seeds or Peers at all.
Gogogo111 Posted December 19, 2006 Author Report Posted December 19, 2006 bump. im having trouble connecting to seeds and peers.
Switeck Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Tell us what all your settings are so we can rule out them as the cause of your problems...and also what speed is your connection both up and down?
Gogogo111 Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 Alright, my connection speed is 1.5 down/256k up.I took a picture in the settings and Bittorrent tabs in the options. http://img323.imageshack.us/img323/6691/bittorrent3rm7.jpgAnd just for the note, I reformatted my comp, and I had to redo the port. Its forwared though 100%
Switeck Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Gogogo111, your settings look ok -- at least as long as you don't allow downloading+uploading more than 3 torrents at a time.Who's your ISP?Have you done a GOOGLE search to see if anyone is having similar problems?
Gogogo111 Posted December 22, 2006 Author Report Posted December 22, 2006 I have bellsouth. My friend has bellsouth, and he scores over like 500kb/s. But I fixed it though. I was forwarding wrong. I was putting 0 in 192.168.1.1 on my port forward thing, not the correct setting, so now I score over 100kb/s. Thanks for the help I guess, but it working pretty nice now. Thanks again for the support and help, I know that I can come here for more help and get a good answer.
Sanman512 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 I will be downloading at speeds up to 3 and 400 with an open port, then later in the same day I start again and the port is closed. I restored to the following days settings that worked in the morning, but nothing changed. Is there something I'm not checking? Also, my daughters laptop with the same port works just fine. I'm confused.
