Blacky
I got this problem twice. Let me first say that I don't have any FW nor any AV. But this doesn't solve any problems.First I got this problem a month ago. Everything was working fine. Then just one day everything started working slow when I opened uTorrent. Even if it was downloading at 10kb/s. After some time it stopped. But never completely. Also, when i use winrar, to unrar something, disk light shines red like there is no end to it. It just overloads the disk. But I don't get any message in uTorrent about disk overload. I formatted, installed XP SP2 NOVEMBER version with all updates again. Same problem after 3 weeks. Now I can't watch movies / listen to music while uTorrent is running, while Nero is burning etc. All this started out of nothing. My system:Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe/Wireless Edition, AM2AMD Athlon 64 4200+ X2 Dual-Core Box, AM2Geil DDR2 LONG DIMM 2x512MB 800 MHzHDD MAXTOR 300gb SATA

Switeck
Do you keep Windows Media Player running all the time?
Blacky
No. But it's the same problem if wmp & bsplayer / foobar are on or not. I formatted my computer now again, and it's working ok. But I hope this doesn't start again. It was already 2 times this happend.. so third time might be unlucky. Ultima
I'm wondering if it's a rootkit or some other malware... Sure, reformatting clears it, but it can come back if something's still the same between each reformat. Could be a certain piece of software you might've installed, or if you have another computer on your network with write access to your computer, then maybe the malware could be spreading through that (though the latter scenario is less likely). Blacky
Hm. The first time this started was when I installed Electronics Workbench 9. I uninstalled it and there was no effect. Formmated the disk, then everything was working ok till I removed my previous dvd-rom and installed new dvd-rom few days go. And it all started again. Now I formated one more time and everything seems to be working fine. It's really strange.
