andyhorn
Hello, whenever I try to download something my download speed jumps around. From 0.1 kb/s up to around 700 kb/s and then back down to 12 kb/s and stays there for awhile and then jumps back up and then falls back down to 12. What's going on? and is there anyway to keep it up at 700 kb/s?
Switeck
Probably not, that 700 KB/sec speed is probably just a lag spike...your line's real download speed is possibly not even above 500 KB/sec.So...what settings are you using, as shown by Speed Guide (CTRL+G)?Also, what is your connection's max download AND upload speeds? andyhorn
I have my speed guide set to xx/2Mbit.My test results from dslreports.com shows I have a max download speed of 7102Kbpsand a max upload speed of 366Kbps.
Switeck
Obvious problem spotted...you used speed guide's 2 megabit/sec UPLOAD setting, but you really only have ~0.36 megabit/sec upload bandwidth. So it's overloading due to being set more than 5 times faster than it's capable of.Try the xx/384k setting instead...and lower the upload speed by 1-5 KB/sec, and see if that helps.
