rebelminion
First, let me say that I have in fact reviewed all Ultimas helpful guides, the setup guide, etc. Here is the problem. After anywhere from 10 - 25 minutes of very successful downloading, my internet connection just shuts down. This is occuring only on the system which is running uTorrent (IE:Other systems on the same net can still access internet). I have also tried running BitComet and find that the same thing happens there. So, I am not suggesting that uTorrent is doing something funky, but something funky is definately happening.Nothing crashes, the download/upload speeds just start to drop and ALL network access fails. Everything shuts down and I cannot get email, view websites, FTP, etc. The whole thing seems to close down.I am also unable to access the router in my home via the browser. However, from other systems on the home network, I can get to the net, connect to my router, etc. So whatever is happening, it is just occuring on the machine itself.Attempting to repair the network connection does not solve the problem. If I disable the connection I am unable to then enable it - I just get a message that connection failed. However, if I disable the internet connection before doing anything with uTorrent, I am able to enable to connection with no problem. Once the connection has been killed by downloading torrents, it is dead. This has happened with multiple NIC cards - so far I have tried it with the built in NIC on my logicboard which is a Marvell 100 connection. I have also tried it with a 3COM 3C996T and a Netgear FA310TX card.My router is a Linksys BEFSX41.I have tried multiple ports with both having my system in the DMZ and with the router forwarding the ports to its static internal IP address.I have installed the "hack" suggested in Ultimas guide that opens up the TCP/IP (and restarted) and this does not solve the problem. The only thing I can do to get my connection back is to restart the computer. When I do, I can again download for some period of time till the whole thing starts up again.Keep in mind that for a good period of time, uTorrent was working fine. I don't recall doing anything that would cause this problem. In fact, in an attempt to get rid of the issue, I reformated the boot drive a couple of weeks ago and still see the problem. Also, the ONLY thing that causes this problem is doing BitTorrent downloads. As long as I don't do that, I can download and upload using FTP, play online games (for hours on end), browse the net, view online movies, etc, etc, etc, with no problems. Finally, my provider is blueyonder.Any suggestions?R
Ultima
From my list of things, what else have you tried besides the TCPIP.sys patch? And we still need more information as requested at the bottom of my sticky. We need solid details, like what your settings are, or what you patched TCPIP.sys to. reco88
you aren't alone, i have the exact same problem, i've gone through the guides and adjusted everything except my Zonealarm (because it is the free version, i've done what i could) but to no avail! The same 10-30 minutes of decent downloading and it stops, i have to restart my computer to reconnect to the network. I do have a fear though, i am on my college's network, do you think they are shutting me off? i thought it could be just the amount of bandwidth i am using up but i have downloaded 2 gigabyte demos from different websites and it does not shut me off. Is there a way that they know i'm using utorrent or a p2p in general and axing my connection? please help! i sleep in fear.
Firon
Try changing firewalls.
Enow
I hope you have solved your problem, because I am having the exact same thing with my pc. Network connection fails after a few minutes of good downloading. No IP connectivity possible at all. Sometimes after disabling and enabling the NIC I get IP connectivity, but sometimes I have to reboot my pc. I have used several NICs, but this does not solve the problem. is2
Same exact problem here. All was working just fine until I went to my parents for holidays. When I came back these troubles started. My parents have DSL, I have cable here at home. I can go many hours just fine, altough regardless of my dl speed, all networking slows to a snails pace. But at some point all networking is gone and only thing that makes it go away is reboot.F**king annoying to say at least..!My router is Thomson TCW710, static IP and all forwarded correctly.EDIT: I have Netlimiter to take control of upload speeds, if I let µTorrent cramp its upload, I can't get anywhere with my browser(opera). Using only XPs own firewall.
jewelisheaven
From user feedback without more information about your specific problem is2 I would say it is NetLimiter which is causing your problem. uT uses the maximum amount you set for it as peer upload. Given enabled features (recommended to turn off in How-To post #2 if you have choked connection problems) your upload can be a couple to several KiBps over your peer transfer which is KILLER for connections xx/256 and lower. ciper
You forgot to tell us which OS and service pack you are running.
Firon
Don't use Netlimiter, set an upload limit properly in µTorrent, and keep your net.max_halfopen low.
al_bundy
I have the same problem and I am not using netlimiter. after using the newest version of utorrent i have started to have this problems. connection closes and utorrent freezes. I have vista ultimate and oc tools internet security. I have never had this problems until I updated to the latest version of utorrent. I even reinstalled vista because i first thought something had happend to my system
jewelisheaven
Then would you mind posting the logs listed in the How-To to help others diagnose it for you. If it is a bug in uT the devs WANT TO fix it, lol the 1.8 development thread is proof of that.
Firon
Try it with oc tools internet security uninstalled.
al_bundy
I have tried with pc tools internet security disabled as well. I have been reading on the forum now and I have noticed that many have problems with the latest version, this did not happen to me in earlier versions. I will post the log as jewelisheaven says

ercblr
I am having the exact same problem. I have absolutely no trouble with my network UNTIL I try to start a torrent download. I have used every torrent client in the book to no avail. I have a Belkin Wireless G router, Windows Vista Ultimate on a sata2 500 Gig HD. It is a Asus M2n SLI deluxe mobo with the Nvidia onboard NIC controller. 2 Gigs DDR 2 RAM. Mobo has an Nforce 570 chipset.
jewelisheaven
You probably have incompatible software. Would you mind posting the logs requested in Ultima's Troubleshooting How-To?
Switeck
Nvidia network firewall software for the Nforce motherboards are terribly bad for uTorrent. You probably need to COMPETELY remove it before uTorrent will work properly.
JesterOI
.PROBLEM SOLUTION!!! (For me at least or anyone else with an nvidia mobo)I had the same exact problem.Utorrent would be happily chugging along for a few minutes then BAM! Network connection freezes.Only a system reboot would unfreeze it.I played with a number of things unsuccessfully until I came to the FirstPacket Settings.I turned off FirstPacket and my connection came back to life instantly.Start > Settings > Control Panel > Nvidia Control Panel > Networking > Configure FirstPacket SettingsThen click to Disable FirstPacketIf you don't have an nvidia mobo and are having the same issues try disabling or tweaking any sort of QoS or other packet prioritization settings your system/network may have. And my network connection crashes every time uTorrent ends downloading. At first i didn't figure out that uTorent i doing that, so I`ve tried everything - reinstaling windows, disabeling windows firewall, updating network card drivers. That didn't help.
