luckyisuru
Hi..i just installed torent but i am unable to open the port. i did exactly as they said on the website. infact i did it few times. so i am pretty sure that everything is ok. i created a static IP address and then changed everything on my router settings, etc, etc.. but when i try that test which tests whether the port is open...it says..it is still close.I would really appreciate if some one can tell me what to do next..thanx
Switeck
Your modem may have a mini-router and/or firewall in it as well that needs configuring.MANY "security suites" and antivirus programs now contain software firewalls as well that need to be configured or disabled. There is also many software programs that cause firewalled conditions even when "correctly configured" due to errors in their coding or weaknesses in their design. foamcutter
Have to agree with Switeck. I am new to this and was having port problems having read, re-read adjusted settings, changed them back again........ and still couldn't get the port to open. I disabled the router firewall, windows & kerio firewalls and anti-virus. This opened the port and then l just enabled an item at a time till l found what was blocking the port and tweaked the firewall to suit.Have patience and good luck. Switeck
Keep in mind when port forwarding and unfirewalling that the intent is to let µTorrent's ONE incoming port through and not the whole rest of the internet by default...or you'll find the latest and greatest computer viruses and spyware on your system before your neighbors get them!
