echo49
If I am getting files within a single torrent that should be viewed in order (eg. chapters, or episodes), is it possible to tell µTorrent to download episode 1, then 2, then 3, etc.?For example, is it possible to automatically change the first file's priority to normal while the rest are all on skip, then after that finishes, automatically set the next file to normal while leaving the rest on skip, etc.? spork985
You can have a somewhat control over the order. First stop the torrent. In the bottom window under the files tab highlight all the files, right click them, Select low priority. Then on the file you want finished first, right click it and click high priority. It trys to finish the ones set to high first.
echo49
I know about that, but to do it that way i have to be at the computer whenever a file within the torrent finishes. I want it to change the priority of the next file automatically.
spork985
I do not believe it can be done that way. The only way it can be done is if they were completely seperate torrents.
Switeck
If you don't micro it, then the only thing you can do is set the first parts to HIGH priority and LOW priority for the end parts...and then you can wander off.It still won't guarentee downloading first-to-last, because BitTorrent does NOT work well...or even at ALL...if many people do that. spork985
I tend to find when I set parts to "Do Not Download" and I come back hours later, there downloaded. It's weird.
Ultima
Heh.@echo49: That kind of feature hasn't been added because it screws up much of the benefits of BitTorrent.
echo49
but if it can be done manually anyway, then what's the harm in adding an extra option to do it automatically?
Ultima
Because µTorrent's not going to help anyone screw up the swarm automatically. If they want to do it, let them go through the pain themselves.
echo49
Just want to know, how does it screw up the swarm?
DreadWingKnight
It fucks with piece distribution, causing some pieces to become rarer earlier than they need to be.
