I was just wondering if this is a legitimate update for the IP list or some kind of a scam before I install it. µtorrent-Guest Posted January 5, 2007 Report Share Posted January 5, 2007 since µT does not release any kind of official filter list (not even semi official!) this is either just something privately created text file(!) or even worse some malware.The ipfilter.dat file is just a humanreadable clear textfile with the ending .dat instead of .txtyou can open a real one in your notepad and view the simple lines of numbers. Since it is publicly downloadable it has no protective value at all if you were thinking about using a blocklist to conceal any copyrightinfringements you might wanted to commit because of the usage of a blocklist present!
