NiteShdw Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Back with version 1.1.1, the devs announced that they would release more timely "development" releases between "stable" versions, but only one such release was ever made. Are there plans to release any more dev builds, especially for complicated features like DHT, UDP, etc?
MechR Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Dude. The last several releases have arrived weekly, or better. Unless we're shooting for nightlies here, I'm not sure it can get more frequent...
vurlix Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 We release dev builds on the irc channel. We can get direct feedback that way.
deeppal Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Haha exactly wat the second guy said. The releases have been very often, mainly with the fact that its a new client.
Keloran Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 We release dev builds on the irc channel. We can get direct feedback that way.hehe dont tell them that, they will all be on wanting stuff that isnt public, LOL
CyGho Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Well, not only on irc apparently. On Softpedia you can find version 1.1.8rc1 :? Someone submitted this to them.
uuser Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 it seems its removed .. But i seriously think that admins should put link to beta version on the forum ( if not on main site ) so people not using irc can also try and give feedback
uuser Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Last Updated: October 31st, 2005 15:38Downloads: 7,552now thats huge number of downloads in 1 day
Keloran Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 who ever uploaded it should be bannedtheres a reason to only doing it on IRC
uuser Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 strangely sceenshots loaded is of version 1.1 while version uplaoded is 1.1.8 and screenshot on site differ from those of uploaded version ...
Keloran Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 thats not the point, everytime ludde releases the links to the latest RC he says "Don't post these links anywhere" and what does someone do the exact opposite, so who ever it is should be banned
r00ted Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 I think the reason for submitting it via IRC, is because it's a smaller/elite userbase there. And well, we get some good conversations/discussions going, which usually end up pretty productive, in the end.
CyGho Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 who ever uploaded it should be bannedtheres a reason to only doing it on IRCYep, they should. I allready regret posting the url here to that page on Softpedia. Gonna remove it directly....done
1c3d0g Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 thats not the point, everytime ludde releases the links to the latest RC he says "Don't post these links anywhere" and what does someone do the exact opposite, so who ever it is should be bannedWell fucking said. It should be easy enough though to find out who did it, if Softpedia records IP/E-mail/Whatever it is that can be recorded...
Ultima Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 It's also posted on FileForum... it's a shame that people can't abide by simple rules like not distributing this program (especially when it's FREE, and its release is IMMINENT)...
Niceguy Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 I agree that it's bad form. however, the fact that there's enough interest even in development releases is a positive indication of utorrents increasing popularity.
True Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 thats not the point, everytime ludde releases the links to the latest RC he says "Don't post these links anywhere" and what does someone do the exact opposite, so who ever it is should be bannedLet's all be sub-moderators, tell the owners what to do, and be everyone's mom now, why don't we.Half of what I have seen on these forums is "this person should be in this status" and "the client should have this" and the like... But umm, whos client is it? Whos forums are these?Certainly not mine or yours. Keep the moderation to the moderators. Oh noes, I am being hypocritical!
Firon Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 Unfortunately the moderators, ludde, and vurlix are all annoyed about people distributing the links even though it was explicitly said not to do so. So now they took action to prevent this situation from happening again.
silverfire Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 As of last night, now development builds will not be available via http, so there's nothing that those sites can link to
strychnine Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 whats the irc channel? im interested in helping.
winMX_67 Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 #utorrent i hope you dont want it just for the dev releases....
strychnine Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 #utorrent i hope you dont want it just for the dev releases....Actually no.. Im a former beta tester for Bearshare and found utorrent and figured I could offer some assistance.
winMX_67 Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 Alright, cool. Is bearshare still devloping?
strychnine Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 No its shut down due to the latest legal threats against P2P companies.. Its a shame really, I wish they would have went open source before quitting.
