ncish7
I have a Lynksis WTR54G Wireless Router. I have updated the firmware to DD-WRT's latest version. I have opened the proper ports, that Utorrent is using, and yet, I will click the tab labled "test to see if port if forwarded properly" and it always says "Error, port (whatever) does not appear to be open. I also have Bitdefender 10 Internet Security, if that makes a difference, I dont know. I have the firewall set up, to allow Utorrent to go through, which leads me to my next problem. I have done many things, such as, Ive disabled my router completely, and connected directly to my modem, and still, I was not connectable, and the red exclamation point would appear. As well, I have completely uninstalled Bitdefender and still, again, "not connectable". I have not the slightest clue what to do. Ive read every article this site offers, followed the directions, and nothing has changed. Im going absolutely crazy with this, to no end. Ive heard things about Static IP's, maybe thats what I have to do, but I dont know how to change my IP to that, so if someone could tell me, that would be excellent, or if anyone has a solution to my problem, that would allow me to see that wonderful green check mark, and fix this lame ass problem.Thank you. abbad0n
Found this tutorial for setting up static dhcp in dd-wrt:http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/3624251However that might not fix your problem if it isn't related to the routers need to forward a port to a single and unmoving IP address. ncish7
Ive set up the Static IP. Now, How would I go about opening ports for Utorrent? Would any of the settings be different, of would I just forward the ports, as if I havent done anything? Thanks.
Ultima
@ncish7: Exactly what was wrong with your previous thread that you had to delete it? I told you several times where you could find information on how to set a static IP up (yes, I kept pointing you to the bottom of the setup guide), yet you continued to ask. The above tutorial is NOT for setting up a static IP for your computer -- it's for setting up the DHCP range on your router, which I already told you about, and for which I told you you had to set your computer's static IP outside of.Forwarding your port still uses the same instructions as always. ncish7
Ok, as of now. Ive completed the following tutorials:http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/3624251http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htmSo now, I should follow the bottom of the link you sent me? abbad0n
@Ultima: Actually the article is on how to setup "sticky" DHCP IP Addresses on the DD-WRT firmware. Was close to sleep when I wrote that.@ncish7: If you have a static IP address from the 2nd tutorial you linked, you didn't need to use the tutorial I gave you, just port forward to the new static IP address you setup and you should be good to go with your router. However if you're still having problems, the router shouldn't be where the problem is. Definitely use the link (Internet Interruption or Slow Speeds?) Ultima pointed you to. ncish7
Everything with the router seems like its setup fine. But when I click the check to see if port is forwarded properly, it says the port does not appear to be open, wouldnt that be a problem with the router?I will now begin looking at the link Ultima has pointed me to.
