pistol8480
I have been using Utorrent for last 6 months on a T1 line. Now, I am trying to using it on a wireless connection, and it does not seem to be picking up the port. On my ipconfig I see that my settings for IP, def. gateway. and DNS all have the same numbers.Kind of a newbie, Pistol
Ultima
That's because wireless providers almost never give their users real WAN IP addresses. You're always stuck behind their network, and they are the ones controlling the ports, not you.
pistol8480
So, I will not be able to configure my system using the wireless connection in order to use uTorrent? Would a router make a difference or is the only way to use uTorrent via cable modem?
Ultima
It likely makes no difference what you use for above-stated reason.
pistol8480
So, you are saying that as a wireless subscriber, I am not able to use µtorrent? Is there a different program I can use or do I have to use a cable modem for any BitTorrent app? Ultima
No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that, no matter what you use, be it router with modem, or just modem alone, you're not going to be able to forward your port. What does that mean for you? TheSHAD0W sums it up pretty nicely here.
pistol8480
Well, I am unable to download. Under tracker status, it states "unable to connect" or something like that. You don't think that is a port problem but some other config issue?
