camle_456
I need to forward a port on my Belkin router for utorrent to use. I reluctant to do this due to security reasons, is my computer/network more susceptible to attacks with a port open? I have read up about port forward but couldn't find anything relation to security, thanks in advance
xenogears
I don't think it is a security risk since you need to port forward your utorrent port if you want it to function properly. As long as you set-up your router and firewall correctly and allow only what you want then it should be okay. After you setup your router to port forward try testing your security at the Shields UP website. https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2In my opinion even if you have a properly setup firewall and router it won't stop a very determined hacker from breaking in. If he is good at what he does, chances are if he wants in he will get in. Firewalls or routers are there to provide peace of mind, and make it harder for hackers to break in.
