download lists get lost!

They have just got lost. I don't know how did that happen (i used norton cleansweep -> but Unerase didn't find anything uTorrent like, my dad shuted down comp last time,...), but I can't bealive: when i wanted to continue downloading stuff, there wasnt single torrent listed.

I looked in C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Application Data\uTorrent and there are .torrent files (i'm now recovering -> but you have to know where you have put your files and files have to be checked -> takes time). There are settings.dat and resume.dat, but they are both 2 KB.

Anyway I have then opened one torrent from that folder, selected destination, uTorrent checked it and continued downloading, and then I closed uTurrent, run

Norton Cleanup and CleanSweep, but after running uTorrent, files were still listed -> Norton haven't done it.

I meant, can't that program have some features to keep double copies (triple, multiple, in different places)) of settings files -> you could then just click them from recovery menu, don't know what, something? I mean i don't enjoy looking at 50 files, looking which are half downloaded (5 GB of files, and I have torrents with similar names, because some didnt work..., can't you delete or prefix (with "done-") completed .torrent files), it's pretty messy.

Ludde could you please explain me what happened, and could you build features listed above?

that's happened to me a few times now. the torrent file i still on my comp, but if i close out uTorrent when it was still seeding/working, after re-opening it would disappear from the window.

it's random, though - and not a constant. because i tried it again and it was there.

I'm having this problem when I shut down my computer instantly eg. plug off the cable. It looks like utorrent saves the list only when closed properly. Anyway - hello people ;)

you turn off your computer by unplugging it and not going through the shut down process?

yes - the first time was when the power went down in whole house, then i've checked if that is the thing ;)

That´s happening to me everytime I close µT (downloading debian 14 CDs on a 256kbits line). Restarting seems to be OK, I burnt another iso (1st CD, another distribution) and it booted up.

My gess: µT not shuting down properly, possible related to sometimes tray icon is disappearing on minimize to tray.

I found that problem occured just because I shutted down computer (hard shutdown, by switch), not by regular X button close.

...

Ok, I repeated shutting down my sytem and this time nothing happened... but I still think that's the reason...

Ok, I am not very familiar with internal structure of wins (i am programer, just VB6), but i think an error comes from windows cache or even disc cache.

I made small prog, that writes small amount of data to the file in one button, and other button checkes it, by reading disk and showing msgbox about the data in it. Then I ran it, as expected everything was correct, then I quickly pressed reset button and when windows has reseted, program (and Notepad) said there's nothing in it. (i closed handles)

The data is written in buffers and maybe sometimes they just don't get written to the disk...

I think that the flushfiles option don't work for resume.dat (the bug?). So I think that win FlushFileBuffers function on resume.dat would be solution, am I right Ludde?
