broton
Hey guys! I have Utorrent and I love it. My brother has decided he's he'll try his hand but is having problems and I can't help. He downloaded the Bit Torrent client, and then the uTorrent client. uTorrent asked if it could be the "default", he hit YES. As I have. But when he tried to DL something BT pops up! And not uTorrent. He's even uninstalled BT, when that happens uTorrent still doesn't start automatically. It's very odd. He reinstalled BT, and made uT the Default client, and it doesn't work. BT starts, not uT. He's checked his settings and I've compared them to mine and they are the same. My uT works, his does not. Do you need BT (from bittorrent.org) to run uTorrent? Should uT work on it's own? If so why did it still not work when he uninstalled BT?Any ideas? -Broton
poyda
This is not a uTorrent or Bit Torrent problem. It's a file association problem within your OS. When you click on a torrent link it is associated to open with whatever program you associated with it. If your OS is XP then Open a folder on the PC and go to the Tools menu/Folder Options > file types tab > scroll down to you find one that says Torrent File & Delete it. The next time you click on a link it will ask you what program to use again.
