zacha
Hi everyone,I'm a bit of a newbie at this, i just installed utorrent for the 2nd time, did everything the guide told me to,m checked the FAQ's but every time i try to download a torrent i get 'access denied'. I tried everything from manually forwarding ports, enable/disable UPnP to check if my ISP is on the 'bad ISP list', nothing works. I looked all over this forum for people with the similar problem but nothing.....when i check my ports on portforwarding.com i get 'port is closed' while i both set them to random as well as manually forward them, to tell you the truth, i'm at a blank here. I have no router, just pc--modem--internet. With sygate 5.6 firewall, allowed traffic on all hosts & protocols, tried all ports as well as manually forward them. Just doesn't work. Did a speed test and got dlspeed over 4800 kbps, ulspeed almost 500kbps, if this speedtest site can check this then how come I can't get any torrent to download....? I configured my uploadspeed in utorrent to what this speedtest gave me. Meeeeh. Could anyone have the key? 'Cos I just hit rock bottom........please help........ zacha
I checked portforwarding.com again, turns out my modem/router is there after all.....i have a thomson speedtouch 546! Is it necessary to get a static IP and what are the consequences of doing so? Maybe that's the bug in my system.....My sygate fw keeps asking me whether to allow 'NDIS user mode thingie' and 'Generic Host for win32 services blah' to access my system or not, are those things somehow related? Man I feel like a total newbie at this but i want to learn!!
Ultima
Question: Exactly where do you see the "Access Denied" error?
zacha
Heh i'm dutch so don't know all the english technical terms but when i try to download a torrent it starts running for a few seconds and then all the way down to the right of the screen where the currently running programs are shown like firewall, internet connection and antivirusprog the utorrent logo gives a small pop-up saying torrent error, access denied and in the download window a red cross or 'x' appears in front of the torrent, and the downloading stops immediately........ Ultima
Hm. That's annoying. So you checked this FAQ entry already, right? I see nothing obvious on the process list that would cause an Access Denied error... can you provide the process list immediately after the error occurs? zacha
Are the things that i posted in message #4 of any relevance?
Ultima
Nope, access denied is a problem belonging entirely to your computer alone, not the network, modem, or whatever else. I'm not sure what to say here... I still don't see anything obvious, so the only thing I can suggest is that you kill processes one by one (starting with AVG for now) to see when it stops. zacha
Hmmm.....i'm a bit sceptical towards shutting down antivirusprog, my last pc crashed on a worm and my current one cost me quite a lot....the weird thing is, before i tried utorrent i had shareaza as a torrent client and it worked(stuck around 5kbps dlspeed so it would take me a week to dl an album but it worked) and p2p through gnutella network worked fine, 50kbps or higher only problem with that is that there aren't as many full lenght albums or movies or other larger files seeded as on the torrent sites, you just download song for song.......meeeeeh. Me frustrated.
smutpeddlar
well,i guess i feel a little bit better knowing i'm not the only one with the "access denied" warning, the weird thing is,all my ports are forwarded,no firewall, and i am downloading stuff perfectly fine..except for 2-3 and even those work fine for a few minutes..then i get the notification of "access denied"
zacha
Yeah, it's kind of frustrating, utorrent seems to be the best client available but see myself forced to maybe try some other clients out there....can't get this one to work, bubbles popping above my head, i'm at a blank here..... Ultima
Once again, this has nothing to do with your connection, only what's on your computer. With all other possibilities I can think of out the window, I'm starting to wonder if you have some malware hidden on your computer causing these issues...And stop multi-posting, and start editing your posts instead. zacha
I did the spybot run, found 23 problems and fixed them but still get access denied. I run AVG which has good ratings everywhere, my pc is relatively new (2 months) , i have a good fire wall, i have no clue of how to resolve this.
