punlman
WoWThat has to be a record for the most concise answer EVER.But I think I learned what I need to know... from their site. What do MOST users use Nero for, primarily, though...? Falcon4
BURNING. Nero has since become a bloated, festering pile of rubbish with players, encoders, all sorts of useless proprietary bullshit. Nero is only good for the one thing it was originally designed for - burning CDs. Anything else is just rubbish. Well, except imgburn - which can burn images and create data CDs. For the love of god don't install anything but Burning ROM and Tools from the Nero 7 packages. The rest is just sick.
Firon
Even if you only choose to install a few things, it forcedly installs a bunch of shit on your system.
Ultima
For users with very simple needs, ImgBurn is definitely a very nice choice (and as a person with very simple needs, it was my burning application of choice... that is, until I b0rked my NTFS partition and decided to install Ubuntu)
punlman
Ok... So... I'm writing a tiny guide for the TOTAL ABSOLUTE COMPUTER ILLITERATE... ...one so simple "anybody's mother" could follow it effectively...Should I recommend that they use Nero Burning ROM and Tools only (isn't that module free by itself somewhere?)Or should I recommend (to a total novice, mind you!) that they use imqburn to burn DVDs from their ISO files...? Ultima
Nero isn't free at all... If it's just to burn an image or a simple data disc, ImgBurn is very easy to use, and yes, it's free.
punlman
Ok, then.... That's the one I'll recommend --ImgBurn.Thanks.See any other corrections I should make to my "Guide for Total Idiots"....? http://brucewagner.com/free
