MetalGarret
OK. I've been using utorrent for about a year now. maybe even more so. as of recently, Comcast called my house and left a message saying i've been downloading ILLEGALLY. First off, i don't know what they are talking about. Most of my downloads are often Half-Life mods or related to that. Sometimes it's music. Sometimes it's movies. Second, are they really able to tell exactly what i am downloading? There are still some variables in the equation on my side. I'm not the only person downloading stuff in the house. My brother uses the bit torrent for his downloads. i dont know exactly what he is downloading, but i hope he's not downloading illegally either. My question is, is my ISP able to monitor all my internet activites, legal or illegal? feels like an invasion of privacy. although i dont blame them for wanting to stop illegal downloads. jroc
I hope u have a firewall installed. If not install that and get something like Peer Guardian 2. I have been P2Ping since 1999 and I have yet to recieve a letter like that. (Been using firewalls since I had my first computer (1999) and been using PG2 for about 2 years)
µtorrent-Guest
MetalGarretRead more about the topic here:http://torrentfreak.com/ip-harvesting-filesharers-guilty-until-proven-innocent/It isn't your ISP that cares what you download, It's those guys like MediaSentry and BayTSP among other companies that "profit from piracy" by offering copyrightowners questionable services. M Moyne
Hi MetalGarretYeah I agree with jroc. What OS are you using? I'm using Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2. So I have Windows XP Firewall, which is a software firewall. I connect to the Internet using a NetGear Router, which has 2 hardware firewalls built into it. So when my computer is on I have 3 firewalls running. I'm getting a brand-new PC soon, which will have Vista Ultimate installed on it. Vista has 2 software firewalls, an inbound firewall and an outbound firewall. So when I'm using my brand-new PC I will have 4 firewalls running. I haven't got a single threatening letter from my ISP.M Moyne
