Standby
hi, hope there's some smart people out there, who can figure this out for me... i've tried a search in the forum, but can't find anyone with the same problem.since a hd-format and reinstall of utorrent, i have been having a problem with the program. whenever i add more than a couple of torrents in the download-queue (typically more than three) it shuts down/crashes. i get a message that the program was unable to create a crashdump/error log. i've figured out myself that reducing the queue to two or three active downloads, the problem stops.sometimes it crashes after a couple of minutes, sometimes after about half an hour. once in awhile it doesn't crash, but it's been some time since now... my system is configured as it was before the format. i've tried to uninstall and then reinstall. who knows, maybe it works again after a new format, but i just don't plan on using all that time just to try..hope there are other suggestions here. i would try another program, but i'm so familiar with utorrent now
Ultima
Get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, File > Save, then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here.

Ultima
Purple in Process Explorer means the executable is compressed (µTorrent is compressed using PECompact2).For one thing, Norman's been known to be problematic, and conflicted with µTorrent before (I wouldn't be surprised if this is caused by it too). Uninstall (not just disable) it and see if it continues to happen.
Standby
thanks, i've heard about the norman problem before. but isn't it strange that the problems only occur when downloading multiple torrents? anyway, i'm paying for my norman copy, and i hesitate about uninstalling it. i still need the protection. you don't see any other reasons for the problem? i was using norman before the format as well, and then i had no problems... Ultima
Norman's got a bunch of processes running on your system at the moment, which is why I suggested you go at that first. There isn't really any other process listed there belonging to applications known to conflict with µTorrent. I'm only telling you to uninstall it temporarily for testing purposes, nothing more. outatouch
Hi guysI was looking around for some troubleshooting and ran across this thread. Below is my process explore txt - any known conflicts?I don't know if it is utorrent related or not. This seems like just as good a place to start as any.I am not sure what the problem is. In the mornings, or when I get home, I sometimes find my computer shut down with the fans still running. I get no BSOD and can't seem to find much info on errors in the log - Here is the info I do get in the event viewer. (WinXP pro)Product: Windows Operating System Event ID: 4226 Source: Tcpip Version: 5.2 Symbolic Name: EVENT_TCPIP_TCP_CONNECT_LIMIT_REACHED Message: TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent (incomplete) TCP connect attempts.I see this warning without the crash plenty of times and it does not appear to be ominous. thanksProcess PID CPU Description Company NameSystem Idle Process 0 96.88 Interrupts n/a 1.56 Hardware Interrupts DPCs n/a Deferred Procedure Calls System 4 smss.exe 492 Windows NT Session Manager Microsoft Corporation csrss.exe 552 Client Server Runtime Process Microsoft Corporation winlogon.exe 588 Windows NT Logon Application Microsoft Corporation services.exe 632 Services and Controller app Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 796 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 844 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 912 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 968 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation spoolsv.exe 1176 Spooler SubSystem App Microsoft Corporation alg.exe 1264 Application Layer Gateway Service Microsoft Corporation DkService.exe 1452 DKSERVICE.EXE Executive Software International, Inc. avp.exe 2656 Kaspersky Anti-Virus Kaspersky Lab lsass.exe 644 LSA Shell (Export Version) Microsoft Corporationexplorer.exe 1404 Windows Explorer Microsoft Corporation CTHELPER.EXE 1956 CtHelper Application Creative Technology Ltd atitray.exe 212 ATI Tray Tools Ray Adams pg2.exe 3600 1.56 PeerGuardian 2 Methlabs utorrent.exe 4020 firefox.exe 888 Firefox Mozilla Corporation avp.exe 2640 Kaspersky Anti-Virus Kaspersky Lab procexp.exe 2228 Sysinternals Process Explorer SysinternalsEM_EXEC.EXE 2004 Logitech Events Handler Application Logitech Inc.
