punlman
When using this speedtest... http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?flash=1 For the purposes of uTorrent's speed setting.... I am only looking only at the UPLOAD rates...?And...What about the different locations? The closer the data center is to me, the better the results....Do I just take the AVERAGE of the results...?Should I just do ONE test at EACH of the data centers... then take the AVERAGE of the UPLOAD speed results? Firon
read the speed guide's instructions.
punlman
Yes, I did. That's why I am asking here. The speed guide says nothing about "The closer the data center is to me, the better the results...."...What gives with that?It seems that the results will vary by a HUGE amount, depending on which data center I select. schnurlos
As there is to read (Point 1):Since you will always be uploading at your maximum speed, torrent clients need to be configured according to maximum upload speed in order to avoid choking your connection. So you will need to test your connectionso yes, UPLOADand Point 1.3:Perform the test several times. Select a good median result (neither the highest nor the lowest).and at Point 3:The speedguide is great for setting up a variety of variables but it does fall short if your test speed falls half way between two of the possible speeds listed.btw: http://www.utorrent.com/setup_guide.php to read
punlman
So.... No reference at all to the obvious fact that, "The closer the data center is to me, the better the results...."If I do twenty speed tests on my New York City speed test host.... I will get VASTLY different upload speed results than if I were to do twenty speed tests on my Palo Alto, California speed test host...
TBO
Quoted from the speedguides FAQ:if you are most interested in your last mile speed, finding a nearby test site is important
