bennyboy
I have gone through all of the guides for port forwarding and setting up a static IP, and I am still fire walled. I am using Windows XP, I have a NetGear WGR614v6 wireless router, the latest version of utorrent.. and i cant seem to get it all to work. It still says I have connectivity issues. Any ideas? Could it be a setup on my modem? I am getting desperate.. I would like to be able to upload files to get my ratio up on Oink. Someone please help.B
Ultima
What modem are you using? What about firewall?
bennyboy
i am using Qwest's actiontec modem and I have turned all firewalls off I can find. Disabled my Symantec AV. I tried to hook up the laptop directly to the modem and it was still blocked.. The laptop is a dedicated for torrents, so Im not too worried about security on it. bennyboy
Actiontec GT701I have found that my router uses NAT and so does my modem, so when I try to disable the NAT on my modem i lose connection to the internet. I dont know how to turn off the NAT on my router..I believe I'm being doubled NAT'd
Ultima
Yes, you are. If disabling the NAT in the modem disables the internet, make sure you copy the PPPoE settings out of the modem into the router and try again.
bennyboy
Thank you for your help ultimaMine is PPPoA and where do I put the modem settings on the router.. The router is a Net Gear WGR614V6
bennyboy
Under the basic settings on router, there is a spot for the Internet IP address, where it is checked " get Dynamically from ISP" or use static.. Also there is a DNS server address, and it is checked, "get automatically from server"
Ultima
Eh, in that case, I'm not sure what you should do if the router doesn't allow PPPoA settings to be inputted... =\
bennyboy
I got it to work.. I was doubled nat'd and had to bridge the router and set up the ip's correctly... .
Ultima
Bridging your router kills its NAT ability (of course), so if you have multiple computers on your network, or plan on getting more, it might not work...
bennyboy
Well if the modem is using NAT, disabling the NAT on the router seems to solve the double NAT. I have 2 computers on the network and they both seem to be working correctly and I am connectible in Utorrent and Azureus.. I guess we'll see.thanks for your help though. Ultima
Quite odd, and counter-intuitive to what I would expect... I suppose the router's simply working like a switch with NAT disabled...
