dazinuk
Hi,As the topic header suggests I'm having problems, I've had the problem for as long as I can remember and with all torrent clients I have tried.I have gone through the 'Speed Issue' thread here... IF YOU HAVE SPEED ISSUES READ HERE FIRSTThis is what i have done- Make 100% sure you read the setup guide properly and in its entirety Done- Set your firewall up properly, if applicable (find some settings guides here) Done - I use ZoneAlarm- Select the correct upload speed in the Setup Guide (included in setup guide, but just to be sure) Done- Read the entire FAQ Done- Search the forums for similar problems, using keywords and such Done - There are so many! Often just pointing to the above thread- Use the newest version of µTorrent (latest beta if there's a public beta testing build available) Done - I'm using 1.6 build 474- Disable IP resolving in the Peers tab - Not Sure How- Try disabling DHT (Can be found in Preferences > BitTorrent) Done- Try disabling UPnP (Can be found in Preferences > Connection) Done- Try lowering maximum global number of connections to 200? 100? 50? (Can be found in Preferences > BitTorrent) Done I set to 50. & 40 download, 10 Upload- Lower net.max_halfopen to 4 (Can be found in Preferences > Advanced) Done- Patched TCPIP.sys and restarted computer after patching? (Assumes you are using Windows XP w/ SP2) Done - It is now set to 50- Connect your computer directly to the modem to make sure the problem is not caused by the router Done- Restart your computer, modem, and router after performing any of the above Done- Make sure you have a green network status light in the µTorrent status bar Done- Try testing a torrent from OpenOffice.org or Ubuntu Linux? (If any of them run quickly, then the problems you're experiencing likely lie only with the swarm) - Done - It worked fine downloading Ubuntu, reaching speeds of well over 700kbs- Try enabling Protocol Encryption? (Can be found in Preferences > BitTorrent) Done- Made sure peer.lazy_bitfield is enabled? (Can be found in Preferences > Advanced) Done- Check to make sure your ISP isn't listed here Done, its not - I use NTL - recently taken over by Virgin MediaThings of noteI seem to have more problems the more popular a file is... swarm size issue??I'm connected directly to my router, a Belkin F5D7231-4 ver1103UKPort Forwarding is SetupLocal speed tests nearly reach my advertised speed of 10mb, with an upload of around 300kps, oh its a cable connection btw.I'm using Windows XP sp2Network Status is greenI use ZoneAlarm & AVG for anti-virusAny help would be very gladly received
Ultima
Belkins are well known for choking with even a tiny bit of connections... Try lowering your global maximum number of connections to 60. And to disable IP resolving, go to the Peers list and right click. You'll see the option.
