uTorrent getting very popular...

I just switched from Azureus after seeing uTorrent recommended on the PhoenixLab forums. What got me was the small amount of resources used, and the good web design. Azureus originally had me hooked because it had safepeer, then I stopped using that and just kept what I had. This will work out much nicer, thanks for making uTorrent. If at some point in the future it becomes open source, I may help out with the development.

To: ColdArmor; Agreed =)

To: pillbox; It depends on what are you downloading right now. Cuz its illigal already if you download copyrighted matireal.

As for popularity of uT, check this out lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTorrent

Hey GFX!

Dude, what the hell are legal downloads???... Do you mean freewares??? ...er..Where's the fun in that??? You can download that anywhere. You mean to tell me that you only download un-copyrighted stuffs off utorrent? come on man...

What i was tryin to say is that ...i want it as much as possible to keep the torrent denizens a minority but strong comunity of l33t sharing... whatever that means...lol It seems inevitable that it'll burn itself up with the evidence of "only legal downloads torrent sites" you see around... which i think is the lamest thing ever.

The day "torrent" becomes a household word that's the day you wont be able to download a "just released 100$ PC game" for free! I know it's wrong but damn it's soooo good! hahahah!

-peace man!

Hey pill, thats why he said that. U ever hear of Linux? Ubuntu? I downloaded OpenOffice recently. It had 900+ seeders/1500+ peers. So someone is using Bt to DL legal software. For the folks who use/develope these types of OS's/software, bittorrent is a dream come true. Bittorrent has legitimate, legal uses. To me, Bittorrent is like using email. I can send spam, viruses, phishing schemes all day thru email. But u think they gonna get rid of email cuz of some evil ppl? Who do they go after, the email service or the spammer? The email service or the virus creater? Now we all know Bt isnt just used for OpenSourceSoftware. But OSSoftware, freeware, shareware is the thing that should keep bitorrent alive for many, many years. The clients, bittorrent system is not the problem. Its what ppl use it for thats the problem.

By the way, about questioning if he only use Bt to get un-copyrighted stuff:

how do u/we know that GravityFX doesnt use an OpenSource operating system.....All he might need is OpenSource software. ;)

Now as for me.......LOL!!!

To jroc:

Hmmnnn... good point there jroc.

My only point was if BT becomes too popular it would lose its juice and only cater legit downloadable stuffs which sucks ass and does absolutely nothing for me. It's funny though as you put that BT is meant to be used for legit downloads when there's predominantly pirated warez being shared everywhere. Not to mention movies, music and (eherm...)porn. hahaha!

I don't see too many uTorrent clients connecting to my Azureus seeder, but yesterday (Sunday, Nov 6), I saw uTorrent 1.1.8 connect to me. Yes, 1.1.8 (eight, not a typo). I guess it had early release to some users already? Or perhaps some people were having fun with their client spoofing tools.
