martix
1. The torrent causes my computer to freeze for short periods of time sometimes. This happens with other clients too(bit comet). Only thing is uTorrent does not crash like the other one.2. Why does it hash/check files that have not been included selected/turned on for this torrent and why does this happen so slow? Is there any way to prevent this?uTorrent v1.6.1Processor Type: Intel Pentium D 945(I think this is the most relevant info since on my other single-core athlon PC everything runs normally). Ultima
1. Check the first link in my signature -- we need more information.2. Hash checking is inherently slow because of all the calculations required. As for checking what's not selected... How do you know what files it's checking...? martix
1. WinXP Pro SP2; FW - Agnitum Outpost; AV - NOD32; Conn - LAN. Anything else?2. Well its slower than with Bit Comet(the only other client I've used longer). And about checking.I downloaded a torrent in which some of the files were broken, so I removed it, removed only the broken files and then added the torrent again, checking only the broken files to be downloaded and it began hashing something. I'd guess the files I excluded from the list this time. But why and how do I prevent it?
Ultima
1. Actually, I'll just go about this the manual way... Try disabling DHT. What is net.max_halfopen set to in Preferences > Advanced, and what is your TCPIP.sys limit set at?2. There is no such thing as a concept of "files" in BitTorrent -- only pieces. As such, data from multiple files can be contained within a single piece. By removing even one file, you almost always kill a piece in the torrent (as the data has gone missing), and it has to be rechecked/redownloaded. There isn't really any way to get around this. martix
1. net.max_halfopen == 8 The other one I don't know where to find.2. Thanks for the enlightening info.
