sludgebucket
I have a small home network - one server PC and 3 others networked to it (all runing XP). Is it possible to run utorrent on the server so that each of the networked PC's can start downloads/uploads which will be managed by the server? The PC's have acccess to shared drives on the server. The server is on all the time whilst the networked PC's are not.
schnurlos
I would use the server to run utorrent on it. If you run utorrent on more than one PC's on a network and only have one internet connection, this would be shared and the bandwith divided.Because utorrent is known for small CPU-usage it wouldn'd harm your server. Lord Alderaan
Run it on the server. Possibly as a service using a wrapper if you know how to do that. This way you don't have to be logged in on the server. Use the webui to allow people to add torrents. There is no way to make separate user accounts for the webui right now so you have to trust all users not to tamper with other peoples torrents or the settings. schnurlos
You can also create a folder "autostart" on the server, adjust the setting for it in uTorrent too (Preferences > Other > "Automatically load torrents in directory").On this directory the ppl have access (perhaps per ftp or shared folders as you said) and copy their *.torrent files into.uTorrent automatically starts this torrents.
