katdude
hello everyone, i ve tried myself to solve this problem but gave it up finally. It would be great if u can solve this. i worked with 2 computers running windows xp sp2. the first one gave me no trouble when i added " /hide" to utorrent's registry key.Notice that utorrent started in hidden mode and is minimised (it did not show up) when i restarted my computer.thats fine. But the second one didnot allow me open regedit.exe . It gave the error "Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator". i searched about this error on google and found a command (something like REG ADD .....).i ve used that and was then able to open registry editor. now came the problem: i added " /hide" to utorrent's registry key.but when the system restarts next time,i find utorrent is not in hidden mode. when i inspect the registry again,i find that " /hide" is not present appended to the data value for utorrents key. i added " /hide" again, closed the registry editor and once again i checked the key by opening registry editor. To my surprise , " /hide" is not present again. this makes me doubt whether: 1) utorrent automaticlly rewrites the data value for the key without " /hide" ???? 2)may be the registry is not accepting any changes? 3)notice that the data value is in "........." i ve modified it so that it looks like this "C:\Program Files\utorrent\utorrent.exe" /hide :::is this correct?or should it be like this ? "C:\Program Files\utorrent\utorrent.exe /hide" :::??? i ve also tried to run this commandREG ADD HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run /v µTorrent /t REG_SZ /d """"C:\Program Files\utorrent\utorrent.exe""" /hide" it adds " /hide" but only for that session. when i restart , the problem again comes. I WOULD SUGGEST MR.LUDWIG(ADMINISTRATOR) TO ADD ANOTHER OPTION IN THE PREFERENCES SO THAT THE PROGRAM HIDES ITSELF. CAN ANYONE HELP ME? Thanks in advance. Ultima
Eh I guess you can always create a shortcut in the Startup folder in the Start menu with the /HIDE option. And "C:\Program Files\utorrent\utorrent.exe" /hide is the correct command.

jewelisheaven
/BRINGTOFRONT will pop uT up./HIDE does bosskey.. but if you know the bosskey just use that instead of making some other interface to it.Additionally be sure you've got sufficient privileges to edit the RUN subkey in the registry. Ultima
@Jun: Use some kind of macro/automation language (like AutoIt) to send the keystroke for you, I suppose.
