Fleefla24
I cannot find my cable modem info anywhere. I have a Motorola SBV5220, and it isn't listed on the website about port forwarding. Any ideas? Anyone?
abbad0n
I can't find if your model as a router or not. In fact from the online documentation it calls it a cable modem/internet phone adapter. I suspect your ISP (whatever it is) is the one giving you a private IP address that is acting as a router, and therefore you can not port forward through them. If you are not using a private IP, your ISP may be blocking/filtering torrent traffic. If you haven't already, you might also want to go through the Setup Guide. Fleefla24
I go through my cable provider. would i find that on their website?
abbad0n
You can check, but I doubt it. If the ISP doesn't allow port forwarding to your private IP address (do you have one from the link I posted above?), then you might be out of luck. Fleefla24
I'm still not exactly sure what to do with this information. How do I go about finding out if port forwarding is possible for my setup?
Fleefla24
when I try to download, it says "downloading" but never shows any progress. It also shows that the torrent is inactive. I saw somewhere that my router may automatically foward ports. Is this true, and how would I know?

abbad0n
Three things.1) Firefox is a web browser, it is not an ISP (Internet Service Provider) which is who you pay each month for your internet access (telco, cable, etc.)2) Make sure your firewall has an exception for use with uTorrent. If it doens't or if it is inspecting each and every packet that uTorrent is transfering, that could be causing the slow down. Make sure it covers TCP and UDP packets.3) You might be having problems due to having Vista. I don't have experience with that OS, so you might want to search on this forum for other users who have found fixes for using uTorrent with Vista.
