pchuownsu Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 i try downloading torrents but after a min or so they all just for to red and dont download,i have recently updated my windows OS and i think the firewall may be doing it,i disabled it but still nothing is working,it keeps saying the trackers are offline
Switeck Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 What settings are you using in µTorrent? How fast is your connection?
pchuownsu Posted March 17, 2007 Author Report Posted March 17, 2007 im using regular settings,it was workign fine up until i upgraded to XP sp2
Switeck Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I believe µTorrent's settings if you never changed them from default are for an infinitely fast upload and download speed....I doubt your internet connection qualifies!
pchuownsu Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 so then what should i do? and it only does this on the new version of utorrent
Switeck Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Set µTorrent based on your current connection's upload max bandwidth....using Speed Guide (CTRL+G) for "ballpark figures", or manual entry if you know exactly what you're doing.
pchuownsu Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 i did that and i still am having an issue
Switeck Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Quite a few software firewalls have to be specially configured in their advanced (often hidden!) settings to work correctly with µTorrent. Some don't even then...so your only option can be a complete uninstall of the firewall software because "disabling" the software firewall doesn't remove its corrupting influences. If you DO remove a 3rd party software firewall, it is IMPERATIVE to keep your computer firewalled besides the forwarded ports needed for µTorrent, games, and similar applications. Typically a router alone that only forwards the minimal number of ports is sufficient. However Windows XP SP2's software firewall can do a decent job as well if you configure it correctly.
pchuownsu Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 then how do u config i am a n00b4lif
Switeck Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 I'm on Win 98SE instead of Win XP...so I'd have to learn myself before I could tell you.Surely there is a post here or a FAQ elsewhere that would be FAR better help than I could be on the subject.
abebe1234 Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 pchuownsu i wrote this solution on another problem also but here it goes again.I had the same problem for a few days. I think it is caused by a windows update thingy. But i got rid of my problem by patched tcpip sys which is on http://www.lvllord.de/Now my half open connection limit in windows is 50 and my torrents dont get red .Pls let me know if you also try.
