Help! Speed drops off to nothing!

Hi Guys

I just wonder what I am doing wrong.

Ever since I upgraded to 1.6.1 I have had a weird problem. After a clean boot, I open utorret and I start downloading at decent speeds. After a while (an hour maybe) I notice that the speeds have dropped off. I just ran the speed test and got the following:

<a href="http://speedtest.dslreports.com"><img border=0 src="http://www.dslreports.com/im/26233953/76750.png"></a>

Should show:

4084 / 652 (Kbps)

(498.6 / 79.6 KB/sec)

Compared to the average of 484 tests from bell.ca:

* download is 88% better, upload is 22% better

I tried turning off my Windows firewall (running XP SP2) and it makes no difference.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

had you made adjustments to the version you used previously? that is: if you upgraded and kept all of your conigurations and then upgraded there may be a conflict.

if so, one possible way to evaluate this is to remove everything to do with uTorrent (not .torrent, or incoming stuff! heh) and then plant the latest greatest version in there nice and unmodified.

make a backup of your settings made, if any, to the version pre-1.6.

if none of that helps someone else is going to have to notice what is wrong when 'speeds drop off after an hour'.

----

has your problem repeated itself significantly? occurs using different lists of downloads; occurs day/night/traffic variations at your ISP (perhaps they were having a 'bad hair' week')

if not, you had better check to see if the problem is like you think it is. perhaps you could move your torrents out of the way to do a test with a few very popular torrents to see how they perform.

----

side note: apart from your hideous firewall, do you have any other troublesome stuff running? nVidia utils for example?

good luck

edit: typo
