IP Filtering

Yes, it can.

However what do you think acts quicker?:

1.Peer Guardian which has to intercept ip calls by µTorrent and block them

2.µTorrent checking ips against its blocklist and not making an ip connection if a match is found

(that applies to outgoing)

But for incoming, Peer Guardian should be able to intercept half-open incoming connections the same as µTorrent.

Hello

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I would appreciate if some one could tell me how can I convert the block list of PG2 to a format recognizable by µTorrent, so that I do not have to use third party solutions like PG2, and as Switeck pointed, it will make µTorrent to run faster.

I believe the blocklist that PG2 uses is encrypted and unreadable by utorrent. The format has to be in x.x.x.x-y.y.y.y as the FAQ says.

Anyways... can someone show me a good ipfilter.dat to download? :) Thanks.

I found one on emule's site but i'm not sure if it's the best or not.

The files aren't encrypted, they're just BACKWARDS...here's a line from it:

PSI FAKES PHOTOBKT Split, Toronto District School Board, Insurance Bureau of:38.116.160.0-38.119.204.63

Note the actual ip range comes AFTER the : ...but µTorrent wants the ip first, and I don't know if it's too "happy" to see anything after it. :(
