microuser Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 As uTorrent has non proxy support, I tried to use it with SocksCap to socksify peer communication, this way it is possible to go out via SOCKS5 proxy server, but uTorrent doesn't want to work with SocksCap. If all torrents are stopped it's everything ok, uTorrent respond to clisks, but when press start button on one of the torrents, just simply freezes.
oz Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Mabye the Proxy server is down/slow, wait a few minutes for utorrent to unfreeze...
microuser Posted November 10, 2005 Author Report Posted November 10, 2005 ok let's say this: i'm using BitComet with SocksCap (just for test, because he already has support for SOCKS proxy) and it's working perfectly.Merged Post(s):GOOD NEWS !! I have successfully configured µTorrent with e-Border Driver v.3.51 from Permeo Technologies, Inc to socksify peer communication! So everybody who cannot use µTorrent because is behind a firewall but still can go out via SOCKS proxy server, may use this socksifier program. In fact you don't have to configure anything in µTorrent just have to add it in the Proxy only - Include list on the tab Applications of e-Border Driver.EDIT by silverfire: Please do not double post. There's also no need for you to post the exact same post in more than one thread. Simply link to that thread next time, or your posts will be deleted.

I got the driver running, but... well, I'm not sure it's even working. Do I have to use a proxy? I mean external one? I have one, if needed. How do I set a working port for e-Border? And do I have to?Thanks
microuser Posted January 3, 2006 Author Report Posted January 3, 2006 First thing, this driver yes, needs a socks proxy. That's why is made for, will socksify all network connection of the specified applications. Works exactly like SocksCap, only that this software will not freeze µTorrent as SocksCap do.After installing e-Border Driver you will have an icon in systray for this driver. Now rightclick this icon and from the popup menu choose e-Border Driver Properties. In the tab General at Settings choose "Use manual setup", then if u have a proxy with authentication just choose "Requires Authentication". So in this case you'll click on Advanced button too, an this will open another dialog box with tabs. Go to tab "Credential" and select as Method: "Username/Password Authentication" then click on the button with + sign on it and you will enter the proxy server ip (without port) on which you have to authenticate specifying also the User name and Password. Click OK. Now on Advanced Properties dialog box on tab DNS at the section Other domains choose "Try local, then remote". Ok now finished, click OK. Now you're on the e-Border Driver Properties dialog box, so next is to go to Proxy tab where you have to specify your proxy server ip and port for SOCKS connection. Proxy server could be external or internal, just be able to reach it. Next, go to tab Applications, choose Proxy only and click button "Include list..." where u can add µTorrent by browsing for the utorrent.exe file. That's it. Now u run µTorrent from the exactly same path u specified in the e-Border Driver, an all its connections will be redirected to the proxy by the e-Border Driver.I Hope I was enough clear.
Biges Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Thank you for your help, that was where I nearly got myself, but the problem is with the proxy settings. I can either choose "direct connection" or SOCKS5 proxy. However, my proxy is only able to use SOCKS4 (or HTTP, SMTP, POP). So I have to set "direct" and destination settings, which I set to the proxy, however, e-Border seems to bypass it and connect dirrectly to the net, wich is useless to me.SocksCap32 enables to use SOCKS4 server and that's OK.Any help to this?Btw, what do you think of this program?http://www.proxifier.com/download.htmIt seems to be able to connect even to regular http server.First thing, this driver yes, needs a socks proxy. If so, then u are wrong, u don't have to touch that setting. So if u have a SOCKS4 server without authentication things are easier:1. On tab General choose "Does not require authentication" and bypass the "Advanced..." settings.2. Check "Show icon in system tray"3. Check "Enable proxy"4. Go to tab Proxy, in the section Server information specify your SOCKS4 proxy IP and port, *again* leave void section Direct connect for addresses ending with"5. Go to tab Applications choose Proxy only then click button "Include list..." and add utorrent.exe6. That's it Apply, then Ok.e-Border is a driver, When u use http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/TcpView.html u will not see any e-Border application having connection to internet, u'll just see µTorrent making connections to the exact same ip of the proxy server specified in the tab "Proxy" on e-Border settings.Btw, what do you think of this program?http://www.proxifier.com/download.htmIt seems to be able to connect even to regular http server.Did not try it, maybe i'll give a look at it later. Meanwhile let us know if worked to u with µTorrent.
Biges Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Hi,yes, I understand your recommendations, I did all these, alone and in combinations, but always µTorrent just connects directly to the net, without going through the proxy. I think it only supports SOCKS5, not 4.As for Proxifier, it works, it routes conncetions to the proxy, but as a result, I get less connections, which is maybe strange, because in either case I'm just not directry reachable. Anyway, Proxifier has possibilites for HTTP proxy, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 and a nice log. Just now there's beta avalaible with time limited registration code, so feel free to try it.*A*

Not even the combination BitComet+Proxifier. But not a problem, for me works with e-Driver. It's good we found more solutions, till proxy support for peer2peer communication will be implemented, if will be at all...
antd Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Can somebody provide a mirror to download Eborder driver program. Thanks.
